Don't bother posting pictures lifted from other web sites. It is against the site rules and I will have those removed by administrators without comment. Death Certificates are the only document approved for inclusion. Please pay attention to the drop down menu categories when adding images. Photos of people, family and homes are not graves.
Read More about Photo Guidelines here
I don't do obituaries but I will extract appropriate information to include on my memorials if you send them to me. Names of any surviving family member will not be included. Photos of obituaries are out of guidelines. Photos of the deceased taken from obituaries are also unacceptable.
Read More about Obituary Guidelines here
Use the "Edit" tab on the memorial for transfer requests. Posting requests as a Public Message will not be effective. If you can supply a reasonable explanation as to why you would better manage a memorial, or give sufficient proof of direct line relationship to the individual, I will be obliged to transfer it.
Read More about Transfers here
Requests for transfers without an explanation will be archived and the memorial stored in Virtual Cemetery for monitoring.

|SGM Horne||Ed Pate|
I spent 3 hours a couple weeks ago looking for Ed. I was convinced he wasn't there. I went back today after church. Walked right up to a large azalea bush, and inside was Ed and his wife. If you want to set up a memorial for her, I will gladly post the picture. Rachel Pate 1884-1944.

Unknown to us where we belong
But known to the many he served along
His name a whisper as the twilight fades
His face a memory as we speak to bade
His name is known, his grave is not
But he lies in peace, a hallowed spot
Buried in the Soldiers Section , Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond Va.
According to Chris Ferguson, Author of " Southerners at Rest.", Page 206, the actual burial location is unknown.
I will add a picture of The Soldiers Memorial to his Memorial
There are over 18,000 Confederates buried in Hollywood. The original markers were wood. After the war they were replaced with stone numbered row markers
The headstones for unknown's are placed by family members in the "Valley of the Unknowns", after research.
The fee for a headstone from Hollywood is $100 for the headstone footer. The headstone itself is free as they are considered veterans.
The following is the link for the Veterans paper work .Should you desire to have a headstone placed.
|VintageGirl40s||Ancestry trees / John & Lydia Potter|
I agree wholeheartedly agree [on not relying on tree information]. I've seen enough inaccurate info posted in my own family to be wary of others' guesswork on Ancestry.
That link I attached was a death certificate for Lydia Potter, married to John O. (she has almost the same years as Bertie - I was just wondering if she was an error or if had indeed been married to John, as I've never seen them together on a census. I was just wondering if I'd missed that and needed to add it to my own records).
Best wishes :-)

Would you transfer Josephine Shooks' F.A.G. to me?. I am her granddaughter, by her son Amos Shook. Thank You, Pamela Shook Kolbe
|Sue Leitzsey Bradley||RE: George W. Ervin|
No problem. Researching can get very confusing, especially when there are multiple people with the same name, in the same state, and have almost the exact birth year. Makes a person want to pull their hair out!
|Sue Leitzsey Bradley||RE: John Thomas Ervin|
I too sent a SAC to the contributor with a copy of his marriage record to Nell. The marriage record has his parents name listed.

I'm not connected to the Ervin's, but like you, George Washington Ervin's memorial needs to be corrected. The parents listed as his parents are for a George Washington Ervin, but not this one. The parents listed are for the George Washington Ervin who died in 1936.

Thanks for the information on John's true birth mother. I have made note of Annie Clayton Ervin on his memorial page.
|Sandy||RE: Davis Cemetery|
yes, I know where it is behind the airport. I just haven't had time to get over there and photograph it.
