I have added these memorials, mostly from the historic cemeteries of Charleston to memorialize all the individuals who have contributed to Charleston's past.

In the event a photo of a headstone is not included, it generally means that the memorial information was taken from a cemetery transcription or death record. One of those who did the transcription was Elizabeth C. Curtis. Without her efforts cemeteries such as Trinity United Methodist and Old Third Central Presbyterian Cemetery records would not be included or available since neither of the above church exists today, including the cemetery and headstones. I just found out yesterday January 21, 2010 that internments of Old Third Central Presbyterian Church Cemetery have been moved to Riverview Memorial in Charleston. There are others who did transcriptions, but I am not aware who they are. If someone knows, I would be glad to acknowledge them in this profile.

Some of the headstones at the Circular Church were impossible to read, however the church had previously documented many of the graves sites by plot #'s. In those cases where I could not read the headstone I used the information from the church records found at the Charleston library to identify the headstones. I did list the plots #'s on the majority of the memorials.

A special thanks to the work of Clare Jervey published in 1906 with the transcription of St. Michael's. Her transcription allowed me to include much that was unreadable.

I don't mean to be a bother, but I've found a picture of Maximilian Laborde but I can't add it to his memorial because of the image limit. Is there any way you could remove the photo of the church where the cemetery is located or find a sponsor so I can add the photo? If not, I can send you the picture to use at a later date. Thank you so much for all your work!

John Ernest Poyas Memorial
Thanks for the info about the duplicate John E. Poyas memorial. I will see is the owner of the first memorial will transfer it to me. If she does, I'll merge the two.

Looks like you added the same photo twice to this memorial.

Hello John! I have been out proving lines for Daughters of the American Revolution and haven't been on the site. Sorry for the delay in responding... we are related, what fun! Are you sure you wouldn't rather have the memorials? I will take great care of them if you leave them with me. I would love to figure out how we're connected sometime. I've been in the woods cleaning cemeteries and uncovering fallen headstones of family in Bedford County, TN. Other than the ticks, it's great fun! Hope all is well... blessed Easter! Margie

RE: Find A Grave Correction: Robert Terrill
Hello; thanks for your input. FYI, when I submitted the spreadsheet for Pine Grove Cemetery way back in 2002, it somehow got posted twice, once on 6 October and then again about a week later. Although it's pretty easy POSTING a spreadsheet like that, about 800+ interments, at that time, they apparently couldn't DELETE it as a sheet; they had to be removed one at a time.
I timed how long it took to delete one person, it worked out to about 45 seconds, now it's a little less with a cable modem and faster computer, but it would still take me over six hours of non-stop deleting to get them all off.
For that reason, I delete them when someone contacts me, as with your Robert L. Terrill. I know at that rate I'll probably be a permanent resident on Find-A-Grave myself before I get them all deleted, but it's better to have two than none. A lot of people use find a grave, especially the older cemeteries, to research their family.
Thanks again for your input, and your contributions to Find-A-Grave.
John W.
