I am a photo Volunteer here for the "Find A Grave" web site. |
I'm currently working on my own Family Genealogy and building a Family Tree of my ancestors who lived back in the New England states of northeastern America. My paternal surnames are Carter (Chartier), McCarthy, Pelkey (Pellitier), Kennerson, Lamoureux, Coulong, McGinley and Elliot; and my material surnames are Briggs, Burgess, Baker and Burditt, Haskins, Weir, Pitts and Washburn.
I first started this process back in the early 1980s before the Internet was available and instead of sitting behind my computer I made several trips back to the Vital Records offices in Montpelier and Burlington Vermont and to the family Genealogy Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. Recently at the request of my niece, I have decided to pick back up my work and finish what was started. During this recent research process, I found not only free Vital Records online but also this "Find A Grave" web site that linked together Cemeteries and burial sites with headstone inscriptions and photos.
Finding the headstones and my ancestor's burial site information was important to me and finishing my research, but living in Northern California 2,500 miles away from any of these New England Cemeteries made it difficult for me to do myself so I've had to ask for "photo requests" for several headstone photos to be taken back in Vermont, New York, New Hampshire and Connecticut.
I was immediately humbled by the selfless acts of generosity of the photo Volunteers, so much so, that it inspired me to want to give back myself.
In return for the gracious gifts of the many other "Find A Grave" Volunteers who have filled (and are filling) my many photo requests, I too am happy to now help others who are also searching for their family, and I'm willing to make the trip out into the Cemeteries that are located here in the Solano County area of Northern California and take photos of headstones and document the inscriptions.
Once my Family Tree is completed, I'm planning on devoting much more time as a photo Volunteer here on this web site.

Thanks for the fast reply! But, I think your Thelma may be the wrong one. I noticed on her death certificate that she was born in Ohio, but since it was a physician who gave the information and she was in what I assume was a nursing home, I was hoping that could have been misinformation. My father had a brother (Everett Francis "Frank" Poe) who claimed to have no children, but I found him in the 1940 Census and it listed a daughter named Thelma, b. Abt. 1927 in FL. They lived in Ohatchee, AL. I can't find her before or after that census. So I am following every lead I can on any Thelma Poe. I wish she had been the right one, but it looks like my search will continue. Thanks again for your help!

Hi! Do you happen to know who Thelma's parents were? Her father is listed as a Poe, but I can't find his first name. Thank you. Alabama Poes

Transferred William & Julia. If you want any others just say so. Try and keep them warm, that is a cold windy hill that they are buried on.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you with requested info:
Leon B. Briggs
Fire Hill Vermont
Born February 14, 1908
Died December 13, 1984
This was written exactly as written on the marker plate.
I don't know how Warrenton plays into this. Warrenton is about 150 - 175 miles from his burial place. Anyway, I hope this helps. I will try to put up a little better picture of the plate.

I was wondering if you could email me at email@example.com I just have a question about Rebecca.
|John Dowdy||perry transfer|
Hello I am sorry I did not see the transfer request.
There are some dependencies regarding this crew and who was the pilot. it appears that they were interred in Turkey and not KIA on the Ploesti raid. Most were returned to duty. it appears that Perry did not die in Rumania. It will be an interesting to see if you can find out how he died and the facts regarding the ship and crew, take care.
|John Arsenault||RE: Thank you|
You're very welcome. Sorry it's not more readable. The Baby's monument has nothing else on it. The Hillside transcription book gives the year as 1904 from the cemetery records. I find a death record for a stillborn infant on June 18, 1904 - parents Charles and Annie McCarty. If you go ahead and add a memorial, I'll post pictures.
you're very welcome. I'm glad I was able to help.
