Bio and Links
Bio Photo You have my permission to use any of the information I have added to Find-A-Grave, including photographs. You may use them in your family tree records or you may add them to, etc. Indeed, there is no need to ask my permission.

Corrections and suggestions are gratefully accepted.

If you have found a memorial that I have created for a family member on Find-A-Grave, do not hesitate to ask me for a transfer. I do not strictly adhere to Find-A-Graveís four generation relationship for transfers guideline. I will gladly transfer to you if you are a near relative or if the person was a dear friend. The only exception is if the person memorialized is in my family tree, or was a close friend of mine. The easiest way to facilitate a transfer is to use the edit tab on the memorial ("Suggest any other correction or addition") to make your request. Donít forget to provide your Find-A-Grave member number. It is at the top of your profile page.

Find-A-Grave has been extremely helpful to me and I hope my contributions will be just as beneficial to anyone searching for more information about their family.

11-25-15: I am taking a break as a contributor to Find-A-Grave until after the holidays. You can leave a message and I will try to get back to you. Otherwise, see you in 2016!

Bold and Italics Use
I agree. Bold type is used for headlines or proper names. When I was in English class, we were taught that you were to use italics only to emphasize something within the text. To use it for the entire biographical section is just wrong on so many levels. Not only is it disconcerting, when the entire text is in italics, it is so hard to read. I suppose the writer thinks it is pretty or distinctive to create memorials in this manner. But it really just displays the contributor's ignorance and lack of basic writing skills. It's sad. So, I do agree wholeheartedly with you! - Karen

Linking parents & children within the bio section
Thatís the cool thing about Find-A-Grave. The family links are shown right below it, so putting links within the biographical section is not only unnecessary, it is redundant. While we all know HOW to do it, we shouldnít do just because we know how. I just cringe and groan when I see that done. I always feel bad for any family member who sees it and I skip over it, without reading any further. I know I am not alone. It is just a tedious listing of relatives that does not belong in that section at all. It is also sort of insulting to the reader, suggesting that they arenít bright enough to follow the links as set up by the Find-A-Grave system. The biographical section should be 100% about the person and not include a monotonous recitation of who they were related to. That information is already at the bottom of the memorial page. Duh. ~ Karen

memorial transfer
I was hoping you might transfer the memorial for George Grover Esgate #92793969 to my care. He was my husbands brother-in-law. My husband thought very highly of George. His wife (my husband's sister) was cremated and her ashes were buried with George. I recently created her memorial and am working on her bio. I am Pat Cook, PCook #48397057.

Kenneth Sturdivant
Bessie 'Whitaker' Brandt
Hello Jan, I am hopeful you can possibly help me contact, Bessie 'Whitaker' Brandt, the widow of William James jr. Brandt. Her parents were Mark Whitaker and Nora A. Hall. My wife, Zenith 'Hall' Sturdivant, and I (Kenneth) are researching the extended Hall family. If you are perhaps related to this family, we would love to exchange information with you.
