Retired military. Genealogy is a passion but I slow down when football season arrives. Willing to help others as much as possible. I focus on my Stewart roots (West Virginia and Pennsylvania) and the Marshall family on my mother's side (Virginia).
I have photo documented local cemeteries in my area of James City County, Charles City County, Williamsburg and York County, VA. Have also worked on cemeteries in Surry, Sussex, Isle of Wight and Southampton Counties, VA and Hampton National Cemetery in Hampton, VA and Richmond National Cemetery in Richmond, VA. I am currently working on Mount Calvary Cemetery in Richmond.
I have also photo documented several cemeteries in the Hilton Head Island, SC, Kitty Hawk (Dare County), NC, Leavenworth, KS and Bellevue (Douglas and Sarpy counties), Nebraska areas while on vacation.
If I have added a memorial for one of your family members just let me know your Find A Grave member number and I will transfer it to you.
Another transfer and another thank you Hello again Ron, Thank you as always for your continuing help in "reuniting" my family members The transferred memorial; Amanda Belle "Mandy" Anders Haga # 65713036 has been updated to include her parents and 9 of her 12 siblings, her husband and her nine children. I will be adding to OUR memorial as I get new information. As always with appreciation, Marcia # 47059326
Christians and Graves Hi, Ron. How did you find this cemetery? I note that is is in 80% Heaven Bound. I have Graves and Christian ancestors, but these are not my direct ancestors. My records indicate that William E. Christian's father was Eaton Christian and his mother was Nancy LNU.
Stewart family info I am from Fairmont, Marion County W.V. & descend from Daniel Stewart 10 May 1799 - 29 Dec 1875 spouse Rachel Huggins. I just found your info & was wondering if you know of anyone who had the dna work done for this line? Family legend has it.... one of those deals lol ... anyway, I'm told my biological Father's family was part Indian & was wondering if it had been proven. I would welcome any information concerning this family, as it is the only one I am lacking. My emial is SomewhereInWestVirginia@yahoo.com Thank You & have a Blessed day. <3
Delph White Marshall Hi, Ron. I found a lead for the burial location of Delphine (White) Marshall, wife of Elias Washington Marshall (#33481748).
According to http://www.marshallgenealogy.org/tng/getperson.php?personID=I30551&tree=Marshall:
Buried: Topeka Cemetary, Topeka, Kansas Section 81 grave #8 No gravestone marks her grave. She is buried beside Charles Council, Perhaps Ida Council's father-in-law...not certain !A GEDCOM file from Lynne Storm. (May 1999 - DWM)
Rebecca Jane McFarland Stewart Ron, I can tell you more about her parents--her mother was Mary Ann Mouser, descended from German Protestants who emigrated from Oeschingen in Wuertemberg to Philadelphia 1751. I think we're cousins, of a sort!!!
As you may already know, there are two sets of Forsyth County "Tandy and Mary Marshalls".
Tandy Marshall married Mary Polly Nelson on March 26, 1833 in Stokes County.
They were the parents of: Eliza Jane Marshall Inscore(1835-1914) Julia Marshall(1837-1923) Jesse J Marshall(1840-1922)
Tandy Marshall married Mary Ann Terry on March 9, 1848 in Stokes County.
They were the parents of: Wyatt Marshall(1849-1909) Ellen Marshall Grubbs(1852-1925) Joseph William Marshall(1854-1936) Milly A Marshall Slater(1855-unk) Alfred Marshall(1859-1859) Alice Nevada Marshall James(1860-1946) Amanda Elizabeth Marshall Krause(1865-1945) Mary Arlena Marshall Grubbs(1869-1963)
In order for the first Tandy to be the father of Solomon, he would have had to marry Mary Smiley in Warren County on September 25, 1831, conceived a son four months later on January 21, 1832, then married Mary Polly Nelson 14 months later on March 26, 1833 in Stokes County. Since we have Solomon being conceived prior to the marriage, it does leaves room for an unusual marital circumstance or Mathew may have died before 1850 and is buried in Warren County. Warren and Franklin Counties are quite a distance from Stokes and Forsyth Counties. Would like documentation before I link him to Tandy.
Solomon Worley Marshall # 49607671 I don't think his mother was one of the wives of Tandy Marshall. I posted his parents Warren County marriage license on his memorial in which his father went by the name Mathew as printed on his moms stone.
Tandy Marshall married Polly Nelson on March 26, 1833 in Stokes County. Some of their children were:
Eliza Jane Marshall Inscore(1835-1914) Julia Marshall(1837-1923) Jesse J Marshall(1840-1922)
Tandy Marshall married Mary Ann Terry on March 9, 1848 in Stokes County. Some of their children were:
Wyatt G Marshal(1848-unk) Ellen Marshall Grubbs(1852-1925) Joseph William Marshall(1854-1936) Milly A Marshall Slater(1855-unk) Alice Marshall James(1860-1946) Amanda Elizabeth Marshall Krause(1865-1945) Mary Arlena Marshall Grubbs(1869-1963)
I am assuming he is buried next to Mary Ann "Polly" Terry because of her death date.
Glen Willis Do you have any information you could share on a monument that was erected for Anne Maria "Mary" Marshall? monument for the perpetuation of her memory.
The inscription is in these words : Anna Maria Marshall, Second daughter of Col. Thomas Marshall, was born the 29th of September, 1759; intermarried with Humphrey Marshall the 18th of September, 1784, and, dying on the 28th of September, 1824, left two sons, her husband, and many friends, to deplore the loss.
To domestic circles she looked for temporal enjoyments; to a Savior and Heaven for eternal happiness.
Her person perfect; her features comely ; her mind of the highest order of human intellect; her heart the seat of every virtue.
A high sense of her duties in life, and great fidelity in discharging them were the characteristic traits of her to whose memory this column is erected by her husband. September, 1834.
