Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born and raised in Houston County. My father, Tommie Johnson is buried at Wesley Chapel. I still miss him. I would like to thank everyone who has left a flower on his memorial. He was a wonderful man. My greatgrandmother Anne Lightfoot,is buried in Widnes, England.

I am also the ggggrandaughter of Captain Samuel Harrison Bowen, and also James Jennings. Who both served our Country when the Tea Party first sprang into action. I am a member of The Houston County Historical Commission located in the Courthouse Annex in Crockett.

I believe very strongly in cemetery preservation. Cemeteries in most cases are the only history of those that came before us. Like rare books in a library once it's lost it's lost forever. My only intention is to create a HISTORICAL RECORDING of those who are "Gone, but not Forgotten" before their tombstones are lost forever. This is copied from a fellow graver: "Get out and photograph memorials while they are still readable. This site is primarily for GRAVE photos not genealogy, preserve those memories that are quickly fading."

For those who wonder about such things, when the number of memorials managed is higher than the number of memorials created, this is due to a few members who decided to transfer their memorials to multiple Findagrave contributors .... . and I am honored to be one of the contributors trusted to look after some of those memorials.

FROM THE FAQS:
How do I clean a headstone or grave marker?
Unless you are related to the interred on the headstone in question, DO NOT do anything to the headstone.

FROM THE FAQS: If you want to add from an obituary: Newspapers represent a very good source of information as a public record. What we ask is that those who index and memorialize the deceased from newspapers and other 3rd party accounts do so with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people, and respond generously to the family of the deceased.

FROM THE FAQS: Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field.

I am happy to share ANYTHING that I post. Just check to be sure a family picture did not come from someone else's Collection. The source of the photograph will be posted under the photo.I have no crazy rules, My pictures are your pictures. Feel free to beg, borrow, steal with no intent to return. I take pictures of headstones out of kindness ... not for my ego or for the "numbers."

Be kind to one another because - One day we will all be, 'just a name' etched in stone. "Nothing is ended until it is Forgotten."

This is the day the Lord hath made. I will rejoice and be glad in it! (and not spend the whole day working on Findagrave!)

Hi how all is well with you. I am doing some research and I see you have pictures of some of the people I am looking for. I am guessing they are family to you. but with my research and seeing yours I would like to talk with you. You have Gjertrud and peter brevik and there children. I have the same names and picture as have but your tribute does not show Manda Elvina. and I am wondering why?

57647438 Carrie Reinicke
I thought you might be related to Carrie Reinecke since you left notes on her Find A Grave site. Her paternal grandmother is Nancy Ann Neel, Find A Grave# 130799340, she is listed in the Leesville Cemetery in Gonzales County, Texas. There are 50 unmarked graves there. I have been unable to locate the graves of her grandparents, Jacob Shields and Nancy Ann Neel Harden, and her birth parents, Calvin and Etta Carpenter Harden. Both of her parents died in 1919 and her dad's sister and husband, Carrie Harden and William E. Boatner adopted her. There are a number of cemeteries in the area near Leesville, Gonzales, Texas, and some may have used Leesville Cemetery as a generic term. Thanks you for your response.

Sy Tryon, Jr, #117175581
Hi Carol,

Since you live in Houston County I'm hoping you can help. I've just created a memorial for Sy Tryon, Sr. and I'm going to send you an edit to attach him to Sy, Jr. However, I found the death certificate for Sy, Jrs. mother Azzie and it shows she's in the Crockett Colored Cemetery. I don't see it listed on Houston County cemeteries so do you know if it's the same as Forest Lawn or if it has another name?

Thanks,

Tim

I am interested in knowing if you are related to Carrie Boatner Reinicke. My husband is son of Clate S. Harden, who was a brother to Carrie's mother. I am interested in #57647438 because of her life story that has been passed down through the Harden family. Since she was adopted by Will and Carrie Katherine Harden Boatner after her birth mother and paternal grandmother passed away, her life story has been hidden and I feel that it is a tragedy that her birth parents are left out. Perhaps you could fill in some of her story that has been lost. This is why I am sending you this message. I hope to hear from you soon. I too am interested in keeping alive the people that are lying beneath these headstones. Thanks for any help you can give. Eunice Harden

RE: LB Baxter
I see now. Thanks so much and again for the lovely poem too. I was thinking it was possible that UB found another lovely gal, after Aunt Dee had passed on years ago.

Have a blessed week end and to you to a very Merry Christmas.
Hugs, Karen
