Those we love don't go away ~ They walk beside us everyday ~ Unseen, unheard , But always near ~ Still loved, still missed and very dear *
Death comes once, but a cemetery is forever

The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important. --Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
Please feel free to contact me about any graves I have listed. If I have listed someone that you are related to and I am not and you would like them transferred to you, please just let me know. If we are both related then I will have to think about it. Please feel free to use any of my photo's anywhere you want.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and the date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who cares
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you."
A LIMB HAS FALLEN
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again.

I have about 800 photos to crop and title before submitting them. There remain approx. 5400 more to be taken. I have had my interests sidetracked as I am working on the "Hicks" of Tazewell & Russell Counties of VA and McDowell County of WV. But I will return as the weather cools and I spend more time indoors.
I'm sorry, but ill health prevents me from going to the cemeteries anymore. Sorry.

I have found out that in the 1940 census record Joseph is married to Bessie Hess. His first wife, Elsie Lee Whitt, died in 1936. Joseph had 10 children with Elsie. In the 1940 census, he shows 3 of the younger ones along with Bessie Hess' children and records them as stepchildren. Please update the Find a Grave site with his first wife's name. I would love to have pictures of the headstone and would you see if you can find Elsie Lee Whitt's record in the cemetery as well. If you are in contact with any of Bessie's children, would you see if there is a marriage record? Thanks!

I am wondering where the information orginated from that you recorded on Joseph Archie Whitt's Find a Grave. You have connected him with Bessie Hess and I am wondering who that is?
Joseph Archie Whitt was married to Elsie Lee Whitt in 1915 and I have a marriage document to show that. The 1920 census and 1930 census also show them together with a household and 10 children and 3 more added later. I am not sure that you have him married to the correct woman. Have you found the headstone that shows him with a Bessie? I would appreciate knowing what information that you have that I do not.

Yes I will do that for you. I am a close friend of Eddydean, but just did not want someone putting it on that did not know him. I will take care of that now.
|Judith Bailey Keneman||RE: Ruth Bailey Church|
I am related to both the Bailey and the Church families, both in Mass. and in Little Compton. I visited Old Commons last week for the first time and spent hours photographing one whole section of the cemetery.Ruth Bailey Church was the sister of my direct ancestor Priscilla Bailey who married Nathaniel Loring and moved to Duxbury, Mass.
Glad you could use the photo also, as she was one of my primary goals for the day.
Thank you for the poems on your profile - they are comforting and inspirational
