I (on the right) am a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Private Lorenzo Leigh Bennitt Camp #773 in Durham, North Carolina. I am a member of the Point Lookout POW Descendants Organization. My wife and I have been doing genealogy together for almost 20 years. It is our passion. Through my genealogy work I have identified over 900 kinfolk (grandfathers, uncles, and cousins) that served in the Confederate States infantry, cavalry, and navy.|
My loving wife and best friend Joyce passed away on Christmas Day 2012 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. When I return to taking my trips to libraries, archives, and cemeteries to continue my genealogy research it will be very difficult without my better half. We worked so well as a team. I miss her. Her memorial is #102701133.

I want to Thank You for taking the task of adding my gggreat-grandfather Daniel CSA footstone. I went to Trading Ford to find his grave several years ago but could not locate him. I may have been at the wrong cemetery. I was at the church and thought perhaps this was a new church building and there may be another location with a cemetery perhaps the original church building was destroyed by fire and they rebuilt at the site where I wound up. I found a record somewhere that stated he had a daughter in the same cemetery but not able to find a record in Rowan County. Do you have any record or knowledge of other STYERS in Rowan or the surrounding counties. I think most of Daniel's family must be in Davidson County. I am still trying to find my ggreat-grandfather John Presley Styers wife Elizabeth Broadway Styers burial. I don't know of any family that may know where she might be buried. The last record I have she was living in Gaston County with her son's family but no concrete evidence of her burial. My job has really taken over my research time. I just read about your wife's passing and my sincere sympathy and prayers for you in your time of loss. My father passed in 2008 and it changed many aspects of my life. It sounds like she took a part of you with her as I told many I felt my dad took a piece of me with him. I still have my mother and watch her become more and more frail as the years pass. I can't imagine what I will lose when she goes to her heavenly home. I wish at times I go before so I don't have to know that pain again. Sorry for going on so long but God leads me to express myself this way to many people don't know how they feel afterwards but my heart is lightened a small bit each time. God Bless and hold you in his hand is my prayer during your grief.....Richard

John, sorry for your loss! Thank you for all your contributions to the Findagrave website. I would like permission to use your photographs of my relatives' grave sites in my Family Tree files. I use the photos as source media and will gladly give you credit for your work. Becky
Read your profile again, how are you a son of confederate ? Suspect not thur your Stewart Quaker/Baptist line they were so antislavery. I have a story about my g-grandfather Flavius who fought in Ohio on the Union side when he lived in Paola, Kansas. Short story he stopped a riot in town when a mob tried to hang a black man, later sadly that night when he had gone home he was hanged anyway.

Yes John am well aware of it..sorry about you losing your wife.
He is my my 4th or 5th g-grandfather. If you notice the other one and check her page she has not been active for a long long time (at least since 2010). I tried for over a year with no response. I suppose if you wish you can report it, it would be a shame to have a bare memorial for Alexander.
