Bio and Links
Bio Photo I first got involved with Find A Grave while researching my ancestry. I have found this to be a very useful and respectful site, with, for the most part, very approachable and helpful members.

The surnames in my lineage are: Aiken, Gray, Blumenauer, Schaeffer, Monroe, Holtzberg, Smitley, Gerberich, Miller, Lowery, Wise, Jenkins, Hester, Weathers, Kline, and many more. These family lines are mainly located in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana.

Please know that I appreciate everyone who responds to one of my requests for a photo or a link on a memorial, SO much! I work on "projects" in different locations from time to time, and enter a number of memorials while doing this, that I don't always get to thank each of you separately. Please understand, I mean no disrespect. I appreciate any and all help very, very much!

If I have entered a memorial for a relative of yours, that is not a relative of mine (or is a closer relation to you than to me) I will gladly transfer ownership of the memorial over to you. I enter a memorial to honor the person, NOT to increase my numbers. Please just contact me and let me know that you are related.

Also, I never intentionally enter a duplicate memorial. I do try my best to make sure one has not already been entered. If you find that I have entered a duplicate, please let me know and I will remove it, and will provide any additional information I had entered on mine to the original memorial.

If you would like to contact me directly, you may email me at aiken(dot)cari(at)gmail(dot)com.

One other note: if you send me a message or suggest a correction, but provide no way for me to respond to you by not allowing messages on your profile, I will ignore your request. I have had several people leave some particularly rude and incorrect suggestions. If you cannot communicate like a mature, polite adult then please do not bother contacting me.

RE: Cora Monroe
Yes, I did send the edits for the links to four of her kids. But if the person that set up the kids' memorials, is the one that gets those edits, then you don't have to worry about them.

I just don't remember how that works (who gets the edits in this case). Whether YOU get the four edits, where I went to the kids' memorials and entered Cora's number, or if the originator of those memorials, gets those edits.

And if you would like to transfer Cora, that would be great.

I sure never expected to find her in Maryland. They spent their entire lives in Indiana. I think what happened was that three of her daughters, during or right after WW II, ended up with government jobs in the D.C. area. When Harry died, the girls brought her out to live with them.

Funny how all this works out.

Thanks again,

RE: Cora Monroe
Thanks for the response.

That obituary for Cora is really a gift. I've been looking for her and Harry for a couple of years. Harry is my great-grandmother's brother.

The important point is that the memorial you created for Cora is definitely her, and the names in the obituary fit perfectly.

However, on Harry, I called the cemetery, and they said the Harry Monroe that is buried at Parklawn died 3 Jul 2005, which is WAY too late for Cora's husband. And, of course the obituary for Cora indicates that HER Harry had died before she did, and she died in 1955. So I'm thinkin' that the Harry at Parklawn is NOT Cora's husband.

But I'm still just thrilled to have found Cora. So thank you for that.

I'm going to start sending you the "edits" to attach as many of her kids as I know about.

RE: Re: Anton Skurcenski
Thanks much. I will look for the Facebook page.

... my grandmother and mother had always thought the plane had been sabotaged to get Anton... the space race was on... but that is probably a silly idea... :((

Hi Carl;

Thank you for your note. I would appreciate it if you would transfer Jessie and Anton's memorials to me (#48824954). I would like to see if I could move Anton to the famous category, due to his many significant developments for the space race/NASA.

Anton and Jessie were my aunt and uncle (I was adopted by Jessie's sister, Dorothy (Clark) Vital). I was very close to Anton and Jessie as a child and was supposed to fly back to LA with them on the TWA flight but it was decided I would spend an additional week at my grandparent's farm at the nite before.

Our family never got over this tragic plane crash which took the lives of some many, including our dear Jessie and Anton. I grew up in LA - with my mother and grandmother as we settled their estate (they had no will and it was a mess).
