Topeka, Kansas

My name is Linda McGinnis, recently my daughter bought a home at 1230 Mulvane, Topeka, KS.
It is a beautiful home, built in 1913 (we think at this writing) and has it's original oak woodwork (never painted). See attached of the outside of the house.

As a gift for her I thought I would see if I could find all the people that lived in the house from the time it was built to the present and her owning it.

In 1955 according to the Polk City Directory for Topeka, the house was owned by Orbie Clark and wife Helen, he was a saleman for Eureka Co. and Guy Barnett Co.

I was able to go to rootsweb and find some information on the family and then on to find-a-grave to find more. It was on the find a grave site that I located the book "Cambria Somerset Greater Johnstown PA a history in photographs".

I was about to give up when I found the site that had a picture of the "mobil home" and Orbie, Helen, and children. I was thrilled.

The city directory only lists the family living there one year, 1955. I was wondering if there were any pictures of the house at 1230 Mulvane from the time they lived there? If so, would you be willing to share a photo with me?

Your family is indeed interesting. Are all the girls still living (siblings of Orbie Jr)?

Thank you,
Linda McGinnis

A long lost relative
My name is Tyler E. Shaffer. Born in Ohio to my father who was Richard Ray Shaffer who was the son of Elmer Earl Shaffer, who was the son of Harvey and Jennie Shaffer, who was the son of Hiram Shaffer who was the son of Sugar David Shaffer. I have the history of the Elmer Earl Shaffer clan from one of my Uncles who was Donald Clair. The only surviving are Richard, Leah Beryl, Evelyn Marie, and Mervin Gene. If you would like any info I might be able to help. I also have a written family tree, dating back to Harvey Shaffer and all thier children.
