On a lonely, windswept hill;|
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babes;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Thank you for posting a gravesite photo on Arch Isbell's memorial (number 89592096). Would you mind also posting that same photo on his wife's memorial? Her memorial number is 142748061. Thank you.

|Jason Swafford||RE: Swafford vs Swofford|
Thank you for the message and help with photos. Yes, there are family members with various spellings due to bad hand writing overtime, along with misprints on government documents. Instead of correcting it (back to Swofford), many family members simply accepted the new spelling (Swafford) as truth.
It makes my job harder. LOL
-With regards to Luther Gerald Swafford (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=15642862), please feel free to upload your photo.
Do you have a suggestion as to how to 'merge' duplicate listings? I've found many other family members with duplicate grave listings within one cemetery - one with Swafford, one with Swofford.
Thank you again!

|DON SHARP||RE: Carrollton City Cemetary|
Hi there...sorry it has taken me so long to respond...took a week off to camp/fish in the north Georgia mountains. I would love to partner with you to complete the Carrollton City Cemetery; would prefer to do it in the fall when cooler temps prevail. When I go the the cemetery now to take request photos; I try to take a few photos of the surrounding graves. Please keep in touch!

Still no marker! I will keep checking and let you know. Maybe there won't be one until his widow passes away. You would think the V.A. would make sure a marker gets placed. We shall see.
