Bio and Links
Bio Photo Any photos I have taken and placed on findagrave are free to use in your genealogy research. No need to ask permission or credit me. The same goes for biographical information I have entered. Please feel free to copy it to your family tree. If you find errors, please contact me so I can correct them.
Effective June 26, 2015 I am changing the practice of leaving an icon depicting a waving Confederate flag as a virtual flower on the memorial pages of deceased Confederate soldiers and veterans. I appreciate the bravery and valor of the men who fought to protect their homes and families and want to acknowledge their military service, but I will use a different, less inflammatory symbol to honor their memories.
Additionally, I plan to delete the flag icons I have previously posted but this will be a long and haphazard process. I have no record of whose memorials I have left virtual flowers for and no way of looking them up. There are hundreds. All I can do is, if I come across one, deal with it at that time.
If I have placed the Confederate flag on your ancestor's memorial page and you would like for me to remove it, please contact me through the Edit process and it will be taken off.

RE: Robert James Thompson
Hi Lynn:
The source of the photo is "History of Orange
County California," published 1921.
Robert J. Thompson is on page 983.

There is a Biographical Sketch of Robert in this
book. It describes him as "A highly progressive
rancher."
In the biography it has two marriages for Robert:
1) Evelyn L. Flagg, dau. of Lucius and Elmyra
(Chittenden) Flagg, and the great granddaughter
of Thomas Chittenden the first governor of Vermont.
After Evelyn's death Robert married
2) Ida May Garrett

There is much more information. If you cannot
connect with the book let me know.

Good Luck with your family research.

I'm glad to help, Lynn. I remember that cemetery well. I passed it on the way home from hiking and had to stop.

Hannan Mausoleum in Walnut Hill
Hello Lynn, I see you posted the early photo of the Hannan Mausoleum in Walnut Hill cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on the Charles R. Hannan memorial. Are you by chance related to the family?

Thanks for the transfer. Your story on him was very interesting. We will probably find similar tales if I am correct.

Have a great day and keep up the good work on Find a Grave.

Later, Bob

He is buried at Howell Cemetery in Trion, Chattooga, GA
I was having dinner with my friend one week ago today. She mentioned that her very sick father was thinking about his life and has told her several times he was 12 when his dad died and "I don't even remember where he is buried". I said come on let's go to my house, and we will see what we can find on Ancestry. Well it came up and within a few days I found all his family data - it was a gold mine in genealogy. I am so grateful for your work. You have made one tearfully happy family very excited this Memorial Day as she took her Dad to see his father's burial place. I have done lots of work on Find A Grave and Ancestry but none that have made my years as worthwhile as this one.

Moses Franklin Lee - Arabia cemetery
Thanks so much for the info on his parents. Hated not to link at the time I made it, but wasn't positive who his parents were. So, he was aunt Mina's older brother. Sad he died so young. Thanks again!

Mary J Smith Clark #54999520
Hello, Lynn. At Mary's findagrave entry, you made reference to her mother's obituary--that would be Mary Fisher Smith's obituary, correct? Do you know when and where Mary Smith died or where I might find her obituary? I know her husband Levi died 1846 and Mary was alive as of 1860 in Mercer Co, IL. Thank you.
