When I was researching my own family, I received a great deal of help from complete strangers who were willing to help me without asking anything in return. I felt the need to pay that forward. So it tickles me beyond words to discover my headstone photos as part of someone's family tree. How sad would it be if after all the photos are taken and posted and researched and documented that no one looked at them or cared that they were there. So to those of you who have found my photos and made use of them, thanks for caring and you're most welcome.|
I find it too unfinished to leave them as just names and dates and feel that its important to say at least a little something about their lives. For those that have nothing there, they're not forgotten, I just haven't gotten there yet. And while I don't always cite my sources on each memorial, for Long Island special thanks goes to Carolee Nichols Diamond and David Roberts for their unending patience and wealth of information, the transcriptions of Elbert N. Carter, George Moraitis, Historian for the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Port Jefferson, Steve Gill from the Patchogue Cemeteries Restoration Committee, Dan Prunty, Ruland Funeral Home and President of Cedar Grove Cemetery, and Marcy from Cedar Grove, who lets me raid her records without complaint.
If you find something that needs correcting, or if you have information you'd like added, please use the SAC and I'll be happy to make the changes.

I added more Schnors than you asked for. I am not sure if you wanted them or not. I will eventually do the entire cemetery but it could take a year or two. Let me know if there is anyone else you want photos of.

Hi Aislin! Thank you so much for posting info on people who are not even in your family. I have a question about Martin Deedy. He is my 2x great grandfather. Could you please tell me where you got the information on his children? The only info I have on his children is from an obituary. Some of the children line up with your list and some don't. I'd love to know where you got your info from and if you have anything else to share. Thanks. ~Julie

I am back to ask if I might use some of your headstone photographs on the Corwin genealogy website I'm working on. Also, I'm presently working on a branch via Sarah (Corwin) Ackerly, which moves down to Ringhouse through her daughter, then over to Koerner through her husband. You created a memorial for a Roger Koerner (can I first just mention again how much I appreciate your thoughtful and detailed memorials? I DO!) - #128065543
Now, I can just make out the names on the stone via your photograph, and it looks like Herman and Emogene, so my confusion is the dates. It must mean 1880s? I am trying to figure out when they married... does the stone read 1882 you think?
Thanks Aislin :)

I just saw your edit for Mary Hulse #92628216. Would you please tell me your reference that her parents are Frederick Sherry and Johanna Kessler? I always check out all info. before I add it to my tree or Find A Grave.

I forgot to thank you for the obituary. It was a shock a few years ago when searching the Archives of the New York Times I found an article stating that he had tried to commit suicide by taking Paris Green. We had always been told he had a brain tumor or that he was bitten by a rabid dog and died of rabies mania. Oh, the things you learn through genealogy.

Thank you so much for the site information you sent me but as you see I am the one who manages and built his site. I appreciate all you have done for me over the past few years. Thanks again.

I have loaded the photos as promised. Feel free to use them however you see fit. I also spotted a very unusual cast iron headstone for George William Bristow who died ages 82 in Aug 1947 and his daughter Elizabeth who died ages 7 in 1910 from Diphtheria. I have created a record for both and linked them together. Both lived in the village of Esher. If you happen to find these 2 in your family tree do let me know and I would be happy to transfer the ownership

You left a request for a photo of the above gravestone and yesterday I posted that I could not find it. Today I was looking for someone else and found it!!! I will upload when I get home this weekend but the other names on the stone are sarah bristow d 1913 age 82 and annie emma bristow d 1934 age 66. there is no Louisa on this stone. The grave was completely covered in ivy which is why it wasnt visible. I have pulled all the ivy back off it and given it a bit of tlc for you
