Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am currently researching my family connections to these familes: Bozeman, Poole, Bliss, Murray, Robbins, Jones, and Story.
I welcome contacts from others researching these families in Georgia, Alabama, Florida. I am retired and this is my full time hobby along with traveling this great USA!

I am a volunteer in many cemeteries. Feel free to ask me for your relatives/friends, etc. I would be DELIGHTED to transfer any you need/WANT. You may right click and copy ANY PHOTOS I have posted with my blessing! Glad to help! Have a Blessed day! JESUS SAVES!

RE: Dennis Powell
Can't be totally sure, since I cannot find a record of the Veteran's meeting, but there was only one Dennis Powell in the 1860 Census and the same Dennis Powell enlisted in the 20th Battalion, Georgia Infantry 5 May 1862. In 1893 he was living in Sylvester Georgia, so very close to Isabella. Sylvester, Worth, Georgia, USA Source: Weddings From THE SUMNER FREETRADER / THE WORTH COUNTY LOCAL. Mr. E. McDaniel and Miss Carrie Tomkins were married at the residence of Mr. Dennis Powell on Sunday of last week. There is also no other Dennis Powell in the Fold3 military database that served in the Civil War from Georgia. That Dennis Powell would be the son of Nathan Powell, brother of Byrd Powell. Dennis married Catherine Elizabeth Bozeman 17 Sep 1857. Email me at if you want to explore further.

RE: Folton Shiver, Bethel, Worth Co, Ga
You likely won't = both of these locations were never named till recently so there would be a name for the graveyard the V.A. could use to list place of burial and for ease of location. All those with stones set are listed with the V.A. grave locator on their site, your boys from Worth Co. have not had stones set yet so they will not be on that site. They are both on Find A Grave as a quick way to document. The town of Marlinton was called Marlin's Bottom back at that time, the historical soc. director chose the name when he asked me to start researching since they knew the cem. on their property were Confederates from Georgia and I asked him what name should be used for the cem. The old service cards just list place as the cemeteries weren't named or most likely even considered being named back in the 1860s. So check Marlin's Bottom Confederate on here and Huntersville Confederate on here for the official names in place today vs the location of the camps then.

RE: Folton Shiver, Bethel, Worth Co, Ga
Thank you for your note and Christmas wishes! Please go to cemetery look-up and type in Huntersville Confederate and Marlin's Bottom Confederate. Both of these cems. in what is now Pocahontas County, WV (previously Va.) have boys from your area. If you come across any more names that list either of those cems. I'd sure appreciate your input! I have started a list of names who died in Rock Bridge Alum Springs too. I've been up there 4 times, the folks up there are tremendous to care about a bunch of boys from down South who came there to die. (Began with my ancestor and other Tennesseans from this area and since I believe there are likely more Georgians. Merry Christmas to you too!

I've added a service card to his memorial page. He is the s/o Ransom and Sarah Shiver. No I'm not related, I'm the researcher for the cemetery where his brother Jackson Shiver is buried in WV and I always do some family research on the boys there. And so I found Folton. Been in contact with Russ Ottens who made the original memorial page - are you SCV? He sent me the transcript of a book he did about the soldiers from down there which helped me alot.

RE: Thank you!
Thank you for your reply. I didn't send my note in hopes that you would transfer the memorial to me. I don't mind you maintaining it. However, I might take you up on your offer. I'll send you an "edit" if/when I decide to go that route.

Thanks again!

Thank you!
Thank you for posting the memorial for Bettye Sue Herring Duval (and her relatives.) I went looking for her memorial shortly after Grandpa passed away but I couldn't find it, and though I had the obituary it didn't say where she was buried. Also tried to find information on her family, but that wasn't posted yet either. Apparently I gave up just before you posted all of that ...

So now I'm back into my family tree stuff, and thanks to you, I not only have a confirmation of where she and her family are buried, I have photos of the graves so I can virtually "visit" them and leave "flowers" for them since I don't know if or when I'd be able to visit the cemetery myself.

Thanks for your work!

RE: George marsh, Tifton
Ok -- I knew his sister Caroline Jones Cleveland and her family -- I was trying to make sure they were remembered
Jane Cleveland died a couple years ago - she was my age and never married or had children.
Her brother refuses to put a marker on her grave and the law won't let anyone else put one
I think it's time to drop the drama - but ???

Thank you - just so everyone is remembered
