I have been interested in family history for over 20 years. In 2006 I became intrigued with visiting and photographing cemeteries.|
I had browsed and used Find A Grave many times. However, it wasn't until a couple years ago that I was able to use it to find a missing link in my own family. Now I am truly appreciative of what an awesome tool this is for genealogy researchers.
I appreciate all the time and effort of the staff and fellow memorial and photo contributors. Thank you! What an awesome gift we are sharing with each other. I have no problem with making corrections, additions, or memorial transfers within the guidelines. Memorial transfers outside the scope of the transfer guidelines will be considered on a case by case basis, as I am not opposed to it. PLEASE USE THE MEMORIAL EDIT FEATURE TO SUGGEST A CORRECTION, and I will get to it as soon as I can. Please be patient. Thanks!
FYI-I do not mind sharing photos here at Find A Grave. However, I would hate for the photos I have taken to be copied and placed into incorrect cemeteries. It would be a shame to have this invaluable information be tainted that way. I hope that most people are here for the right reasons, and will think twice about borrowing images, reposting them (incorrectly) elsewhere, or taking sole credit for them. Please respect eachothers hard work in making this site what it is. Thanks!

Sorry about last message. Sent it to wrong person looking for grave photos.
Joseph Wills, this is all I found at his site, please give me your email address so I can email you photos.
Didn't see his name directly just saw surname at exact location and confirmed location with the grounds keeper.

I saw your grave request on the Riverside Cemetery here. I am up in Oswego maybe a couple times a year and though I'd stop. I asked the yard keeper about Vorse. You're correct about his location however, keeper said he was buried amongst the Gibbs family. Does Gibbs mean anything to you? Anyway, I didn't see his plot; however I did find an stone that seemed to be missing its top amongst the Gibbs.

Her obituary leaves blank the names of her daughters. I believe they are Lou Emma and Mary.
|Kerry Hammock||John M Hammock 10423123|
Thank you so much for your hard work. In reference to John M. Hammock, memorial #104723123 there is an error in the spouse and birthdate. The John Hammock you listed married Rachel Sellars and moved to Overton County, Tennessee and died there. He is buried in Hammock Cemetery in Overton county. John M. Hammock in Talbot, Georgia was born between 1771-1772 in Amelia County, VA and married a Rachel who was born in Pennsylvania. She is most likely Rachel Walker who he married after coming to Georgia, most likely in Wilkes County, Georgia. This error exists on many websites, but can be well documented.
Again, thank you for your work!

Tks, Ms. Bagwell, for posting all the informaton on the above family, Memorial #112484732.
While seeking the parents of Paul William Jones who said he was born in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett Co., GA, on 3 Feb. 1887 when he completed his WW I Draft Card in Tangipahoa Parish, LA, on 05 June 1917, John Paul Jones was encountered because of the similarity of the name, date and place of birth. However, they turned out to be two different Jones. Please keep Paul William Jones in mind as you continure your research. We have not found him listed in any census prior to 1930.
Information found on John Paul Jones follows:
James W. T. Jones married Fannie E. Harris in Talbot Co., GA, on 04 May 1884
1900 O'Neals, Talbot Co., GA, Census lists Paul Jones, born Feb. 1887, age 13, with his parents.
1910 Talbot Co., GA, Census includes his family, but not him. I have failed to find him in any 1910 census.
5 June 1917 - WW I Draft card for John Paul Jones, Talbot Co., GA, contains the following information: Born 1 Feb. 1887; Home: Box Springs, GA; Occupation: Traveling Salesman, Armour Soap Works, State of Florida, and Martial Status; Single.
1920 Memphis, Shelby Co., TN, Census enumerates John P. Jones as a Lodger, age 33, born 1887 in GA, his father GA and his mother AL. He is a Commercial Traveler, Toilet Soap.
1930 Memphis, Shelby Co., TN, Census lists John P. Jones and his wife Susie. Their ages are not given. However, John P. said he was 37 when he married, thus he would have married about 1924 since he was born in 1887. His wife was 25 when she married. Again, he was born in GA, his father GA and his mother AL. His occupation was Traveling Salesman.
1940 Memphis, Shelby Co., TN, Census, includes John Paul and his wife Susie Jones. Their ages are 53 (born 1887) and 39 (born 1901), and both were born in GA. They were living in the same place in 1935, and John Paul was a Traveling Rep., Cosmetics.
Extensive information on the family of John Paul Jones is included in the Find-A-Grave, http://www.findagrave.com/ , entry for his father James W. T. "Ruff" Jones in the Jones Family Cemetery, Junction City, Talbot Co., GA.

I notice that you have a photo of my mother's grave Viola Ledford. Would you please tell me why you took this pic
|Karen Krugman||Headstone George H. Ligon|
First of all thank you for your hard work on putting the cemetery pics up for those of us who can't get to the cemeteries ourselves.
I'd like to post a correction. The headstone you have up for George H. Ligon (1876-1919) and his wife, Ira Mae McBride Ligon, buried in Cox Cemetery, Talbot County, George.
I know you had nothing to do with this, BUT, it needs to be noted. Those two did NOT die on the same date as the headstone indicates.
George's death certificate #18775, Talbot County, Georgia indicates he died on 13 DEC of suicide. Ira Mae's certificate #18776, shows a death date of 1 DEC with a burial date of 3 DEC... She died of pneumonia. Sounds like he was major depressed about loosing her. SAD.
Oh well, do with the information what you want. I just felt it needed to be noted.
Thanks again. Karen
