Bio and Links
Bio Photo Currently working on several trees. Born in Tampa, Florida, raised in Bayside, Queens County, New York City, New York, currently living in Northern New Jersey. Retired in 2008.
On my mother's side there are Irish and German immigrants (mid 1800s) who lived and raised families in the New York City area. My grandmother on my father's side is the link that makes me a direct descendant of Edward Doty who came over on the Mayflower in 1620. There are generations of colonizers and pioneers on this side. My family on my father's side were pioneers who went from New England to Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Iowa and finally into the western states. I am trying to organize everything for future generations and to honor my ancestors who have been forgotten and struggled greatly to just to survive.

I WILL GLADLY TRANSFER MEMORIALS TO RELATIVES OF ANYONE WHO I HAVE ADDED, PROVIDING THE INDIVIDUAL IS NOT PART OF MY OWN CLOSE FAMILY. PLEASE USE THE EDIT TAB ON THE MEMORIAL PAGE TO REQUEST TRANSFERS. YOU MAY ALSO USE ANY PHOTOS THAT I HAVE TAKEN FOR YOUR FAMILY TREES, ETC.
PLEASE USE THE NEW "EDIT" TAB ON YOUR PROFILE PAGE TO REQUEST CHANGES, CORRECTIONS AND ADDITIONS ON MEMORIALS THAT I HAVE POSTED.
THANKS

RE: SARAH CHAPMAN
What memorial are you referring to?

After an auto suggestion is made by a contributor, the contributor has no means to review what the suggestion was, or what memorial it was for, unless he remembers the memorial the suggestion was made to, or surfs Find A Grave to find the right memorial.

RE: PICTURES
Hi Ken,

You have my permission to use any photo I have taken, thanks so much for asking,

Gary Boughton

Part of the photo process, for me, is to actually visit the site. In this way I verify there is a gravestone for the person in this cemetery. Many times graves are recorded in one cemetery when they are actually in another. (sometimes findagrave combines cemeteries when they should not have giving the impression of the burial in a certain cemetery incorrectly) (Also keep in mind sometimes complete cemeteries, usually small, were remove and their remains were reinterred at another cemetery. This mistakenly gives the researcher the impression the person was always buried in this certain cemetery.) gb

Note
Hi Ken! It all started when I checked Rose Hill Cemetery and saw there were some requests for gravestone photos. Rose Hill is available on the Internet and at the cemetery also. I had a hard time finding the graves, even with the burial plot and a map! After the third time being there, I figured out the problem. The cemetery has the burial location as, Section, Column, Row, Space, which is wrong. It should be, Section, Row, Column, Space. Found each and every grave on the list with no problem! The KE, KW section is the most easy. The section MA, all have flat to the ground gravestones, so you have to walk up to each and every one to see who it is. The section ON, is the old section and many graves are hard to read. I was surprise that only 30% of the cemetery has been photographed, but I have now jacked that up to 38%. Tons of graves still to be taken, and I have only gotten to the end of the B in the surname list. Yes, I am from Iowa, living now in Iowa City, but grew up in Tipton. Stanwood is just north of my parents farm, Mechansville, just to the northwest. A nice little drive from Iowa City. I'm using the Internet burial listings, then checking the Find-A-Grave website to see if a gravestone is needed, then post my pics and make any Edit Request that are needed. If I have gone through all the B's, then all the Browns have been taken care of. If a gravestone was there, then a pic would have been taken. Do you have obits for your Brown family members that give Rose Hill as the burial location? People have made mistakes in the past when it comes to burial records. I have family in the Durant Cemetery and worked on that cemetery last year, and what a mess at times! I found the old WPA burial records to be even worst. Not much help I'm I? If you know the dates of death for your Brown family, I can research to find obits at the State Historical Society here in Iowa City. Let me know. Thanks for your note.

Thank you
Ken, I just wanted to thank you for adding the photo of my grandmother's marker to her memorial. Now that I live five hours away, it is much appreciated!

RE: Phoebe M. Wilson
Find A Grave Memorial# 111462737

This is the memorial I am checking on. I am not sure if the Phoebe that I am talking about got remarried. She's listed in Census remarried under the last name Wilson (John Wilson being her husband) The person on this memorial that has no birthdate (listed as unknown) if this is my GGG Grandmother, then her birthdate is known and I can update it. Her maiden name was Pheobe Melonia Smith. She then married George Schelling (he died somewhere around 1903, where I have no clue) and then I see her in census in New Jersey remarried, with her father living with her (her father's name was William Smith. My family has her death date in 1940, but I can't find her under Smith or Schelling, so I am assuming if census is correct, she got remarried and her last name at death was actually Wilson?

Thank you,
Rebecca Granato (researching Granato, Schelling, Smith, Ackerman, and Hamler)

Thank you posting the photos for Rack and his parents. I will wait to accept your edit on his birth location until I can confirm it with his wife who is my 1st cousin once removed. I don't know why I had not added the death location. Thanks!!!

I was going to ask but I see in your bio that you give permission to use your photos. Thank you!!!

Thank you again and thank you for all of your work on Find A Grave!!! :)

Phoebe M. Wilson
Hi,

My name is Rebecca L. Granato, and I am researching Phoebe M. Smith (whom I believe was married to a John H. Wilson) and I need to know if the Phoebe M. Wilson you have listed on this web site is also the Phoebe M. Wilson who was previously married to a George Schelling, and or her maiden name was Smith. Her father's name, if she is the same person, was William Smith and her mother Was Mary E. Stephenfield. This person is my 2nd Great Grand Mother. She was born in 1862.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rebecca Granato (researching Schelling, Smith, and Granato)

RE: OLIVER / KURTZ
My dads father was Meredith. I have connected everyone. If you check Margarets listing again. Roger is Kays husband, she is Margarets daughter by Oliver, & Joyce also married a railroad man! All the men worked on the railroad. I grew up riding the Erie Lackawanna/Conrail. It's funny how the train whistle still gets me, even after all these years! Ps. I even got to ride in the Engine!! (don't tell anyone!) LOL Great childhood memories.
