Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy research since 1994. I was born and raised in Richmond, Va. My motto is, genealogy without documentation or science (DNA) is mythology.

My ancestors are from the following counties in VA: Hanover, Caroline, Middlesex, New Kent, King & Queen, etc. I also have paternal ancestors from Burke & Macon, NC that moved to various other counties in NC, to SC, VA, etc. Some of my surnames are Atkinson, Franklin, Martin, Mathews, Alexander, Gibson-Gipson, Ellis, Garren, Dill(s), Ellison-Allison, Gayle-Gale, Thomas, West, Carter, Schools, Mahon, Owen(s) etc.

Carter family
Have you ever found out who Franklin Manley who married Judith If you check Mary Thomas Carter there is a letter there that has a lot of info. Also mentions an Ellet and a Jimmy Carter if you have any info it would e helpful the letter states that Frank Mary's grandfather came to King and Queen county was she thought born in New York Frank came into King and Queen County in 1861 or 1863 He met Judy Bew a widow and they married. I am not even sure this is the right Carter family. I married into the Carter family to George Carter son of Manley and Rena Carter. If you have any info it would help. I live in NC and too old to drive to Va for searching just turned 75 years. George passed and I remarried a Kennedy.

RE: Request for Memorial Transfer
Hi Jeanette, I'm sorry - I don't want to transfer the memorials for John Carter and Susanna Thurston because they are my great great grandparents as well. I would be happy to add information for you if you like.

Robert Gipson
Hi: You can find a history of Robert Gipson here:

History of Randolph and Macon Counties, Missouri
https://books.google.com/books?id=ldUyAQAAMAAJ
1884 - ‎Macon County (Mo.)
H Robert Gipson is the son of Stephen and Mollie Gipson (his mother's maiden ... The names of his half-brothers and sisters were Larkin, Isaac, Thomas, Henry, ...

Stephen Gipson, father of Robert, Nathan, Larkin and others, moved from Randolph County, NC, to Burke Co., NC, where he purchased land about 1780 from John Edger.

Robert Gipson resided in Burke County, NC, as did his father and several other Gipsons before moving on to Kentucky and Missouri.

It is possible that your Nathan Gipson and Stephen's son Nathan were the same person, the time frame and place is right, but not known for sure.

I descend from Robert and Nathan's half brother Larkin Gipson who was born about 1791 in North Carolina and married Elizabeth Austin, They moved to Wayne County, Kentucky where Larkin resided the remainder of his days (with a possible couple of years in Alabama). He died about 1869-70 and Elizabeth last known living with her son John in Barren Co., KY., in 1880.

You can find a full history of Robert Gipson on the internet from an interview he gave back in 1880 or so when he was thought to be the oldest person in America.

Nathan Gipson
I believe your Nathan Gipson could very well be half brother to my ancestor Larkin Gipson. If this is right, Nathan has a full blood brother named Robert who was born 1765 in Burke or Randolph County, NC, and definitely was living by 1780 in Burke County and in an interview he stated he had a brother Nathan that would put him in the right time and place. If interested in more info please contact me...Tom Goldrup.

Franklin
Hi Jeanette - have you found any info on the first husband of Vergie Fanny Dills, W. Franklin, his brother Joseph Franklin or their parents Mary and John Franklin both living in Ashville NC in 1894? I can't find anything on them other than the marriage certificate of Joseph and Laura Anna Dills. Thanks, Dana
