I have always been fascinated by the history of just about anything; antiques, houses, people. That has led me to cemeteries more than once. I also enjoy seeing unique grave monuments in cemeteries, especially those built in the Victorian era. I don't know when I first realized that I liked to go through graveyards as a recreation but I think it has something to do with the fact that I lived right next door to the Millington Cemetery in Illinois at my grandma's house. We always used the grounds as a kind of a quiet park. And since then I have bought a digital camera I have been able to make many photo contributions to this site. If you have relatives' or friends' graves and they are close to where I live, I would be glad to photograph them if you can't. *UPDATE* Since I wrote this profile 19 years ago when I first joined FAG (Wow!) I've bought my grandparents old house right next to the Millington-Newark Cemetery. I go there probably 5 times a week to walk with my son and probably know it better than even the caretaker (who I'm good friends with)! I've also been digging up old graves there that have been completely covered for up to 50 years by dirt, which is an awesome, dirty, and sweaty job. So if you are looking for someone's grave from even the 1800's, have hope. I uncover about 10 a year. Feel free to message me with any questions since I'm also friends with the town historian and the mayor. Have a great day and keep graving my friends!
