Bio Photo My goal is to make someone out there just as excited as I get when I find a long ago relative.
I find cemeteries generally very peaceful. And it's a way to get my much needed exercise.

If I have entered something wrong, please tell me! I WANT to correct it.

Brooks Family
Hello Hunter, You took a photo of Joanna and John Brooks awhile back (84750549). Can you take a look in the same location for the gravestones of Eleanor and Ted Brooks, please? These graves should be in the upper 1/4 of the cemetery, left of the alter if it is still there. ((St. Stan's was an old haunt of mine growing up!))

As well, can you find the Novak plot? I think the area expanded, but this is about when you drive up the lane to the big tree in the center and make a right. Right before you start the turn should sit "Novak" or "Sitko" and all and any names there photographed would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for dates concerning all members of this family, as well as possibly the Koss family as well. Thank you in advance!

Take care.

Take good care of the Kuhns... I didn't know the parents, but Florence was a sweetheart and mentor of mine at St Johns Lutheran Church in Pittston as I grew up..I have various church articles with her mentioned...

Happy hunting

RE: Slavic Cemetery Old Forge PA
Hunter, I sent 5 letters to St Nicholas Church with no response. I even called and talked with the priest there .. don't know his name. He referred me to the secretary who works on Monday only. I even called the secretary Marianne without much in return. I sure would like a parishoner connection whom I can talk with. Thanks again. Frank

RE: Slavic Cemetery Old Forge PA
Hunter, Again Thanks. Are the plots and maps of the Slavic Cemetery or another in Old Forge and area? Do you have contact info for the church secretary? As for facebook it is not my cup of tea. Thanks for your efforts. Frank

RE: Slavic Cemetery Old Forge PA
Hunter, Thank for the info. The surnames I am looking for are Oreschak / Orischak and other variations of the spelling. Also possibly pierge / peirge. Names are Peter (d 1920) & Anna (d 1938). Census data showed there may be two others buried there. They would be young & possibly twins having died circa 1905-10.
That was their church from what I can discover. I am familiar with the area but not very with the churches there. Frank

Slavic Cemetery Old Forge PA
I am writing concerning your Find A Grave inputs for the Slavic Cemetery in Old Forge, PA. My parents are both buried there and I have created a memorial for both.
Do you live in the area? Do you know who the caretaker is? I am searching for my grandparents graves and I think they may be buried in the Slavic Cemetery. I would like to talk with someone who may have a plot map with names. I have written to the Church back there but no response.
I have heard of an old St Nicholas Cemetery but can't find anything on that. I am assuming that it is now the Slavic Cemetery.
If you are able to help I would greatly appreciate it.
I thank you in advance and look forward to hearing from you.

RE: 73362935 Margaret Witzal
There may be errors in it. The information was provided by family members and sometimes errors were recorded in the book.

RE: 73362935 Margaret Witzal
Found that information in the History of Newton and Ransom Townships book 1912 by John B Stephens on book page 226. The book is available online (the online version is page 232 but the text is still on page 226) There's 8 pages that mention Witzal (table of contents, text page 177, 178, 225, 226, 228, 244, 247)

Also has a picture of the house which was built in 1822 by Mr Woosley and the family. Not sure who is in the photo with John and Margaret. Either Emma and Burton Hartman with John OR William and Emma Witzal with Lillian. You might be able to figure it out when Lillian was born. John is born May 1911. The baby in the photo looks like an infant. The book was published about summer of 1912.

If you can't find the book, there's a link to it from the Newton and Ransom Genealogy pages

Hope this helps
