I believe that relatives and friends should have any
memorials I maintain transferred to them, regardless
of what the guidelines are. Of course if I am a closer relative, the memorial will not be transferred. If I am a more close friend, it will not be
transferred. If the memorial is of a close friend of mine, and the requester is a distant relative, I might not transfer. Please, please use the edit tab on the memorial you wish transferred to you.
Also, I may ask for some proof of any claims of your relationship or friendship. You'll never know if I will transfer a memorial unless you ask.

It is at Lost Creek area of Breathitt Co. When on HWY. #15 near the Watts Firehouse you will see a sign that points to Watts. You turn and go toward Leatherwood. It is about 4 miles from HWY 15. There is no sign pointing to the cemetery that I remember. The cemetery is well cared for and you can drive right to it. You probably need to ask someone that lives there as it is not easy to see.

Leatherwood, but I don't know where that is. Jackson is the biggest city close by.

I made that transfer. Please let me know if there are others that you'd like me to transfer to you :)

That would be fine, Kenny. I'm not sure how to go about the transfer, so let me know if there's something I need to do. Lola was my grandmother's sister. Peggy Ray

No I didn't know. I understand the need to walk the empty field. And nothing the state does surprises me except the fact that there is a law against destroying graves and cemeteries. You'd think they would know this. The law apparently doesn't apply to them.

I saw Melissa Byrd's message regarding the location of Central State Cemetery. Did you respond to her and if so where is it?
|Diane Addington||Mays Cemetery|
Thanks for the note. I just purchased a new pair of boots for the express purpose of wearing them in cemeteries. Yes, some cemeteries can be quite overgrown and I am always worried about snakes. I usually just wind up with TICKS..yikes and that is quite bad enough! Thanks again for the information DAM.

I noticed you had taken the photo of the cemetery. Can you give me some idea of location please. Are you from this area? Thanks, Diane
|Melissa Byrd||RE: Armilda Childers|
Awe, Kenny. I'm sorry about that. I hope they reconsider. There's not much to do and no reason they couldn't/shouldn't do the transfers. Very sad.
Also, very sad about what happened to great great grandma Armilda. I think she wasted away in Central State for going on three years. She finally just gave up. It was probably loneliness and a broken heart that killed her in the end. She wasn't abandoned by her family, but there wasn't much that people could do back then - no nursing homes or hospice care and such. It was just the way it was. I feel so bad for her and also for her daughter and granddaughter - all my mothers.
Thank you for the information. I will give it to my brother, who is in Louisville now. Will make my pilgrimage from Virginia to visit the cemetery as soon as I can.
And thank you for all that you do! I wish you the best. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you in return.
|Melissa Byrd||RE: Armilda Childers|
Yes, please transfer her memorial to me. She is my great, great grandmother.
Thank you for taking care of her for us!
