I became interested in family history in May 2010 when my mother's sister passed away. All three sisters had passed within three years! It made me realize that the older generation was leaving and if I wanted to know more about our family, I better start asking questions! I got very interested in family history and discovered that I really enjoy visiting eastern NC cemeteries, taking pictures of headstones, and figuring out who the people were and if/how they were related to me. I focus on Martin County (my dad's family) and Wilson County (my mom's family).

I am a member of the DAR. John Jackson Morgan Sr of Nash County, NC is the first Revolutionary War patriot I have been able to prove my connection to.

This hobby (obsession?) has been a real blessing in many ways. The best part is meeting relatives I never knew I had, and becoming friends with some of the most wonderful people I've ever known.

Im just wondering how the name "William" was attached to this headstone... Its my Great great grandfather and no one knows what his "real" name is. Do you know if this is a typo or was he actually called William instead of Robert??

Jacob Edwards@ Maplewood Cemetery
Hi Deborah:

I've made the corrections to "Jake's" memorial and was wondering if you are related to him and his parents (Brittain, Brittin, Britton - spelled so many different ways) and Winiford Byrum Edwards. Britton was my 3rd great uncle, the brother of my 2d great grandfather, Jonas Edwards, and the son of Britton Edwards II.

Do you know anything about this person's father? I'm trying to determine if her father John is the same John Barnhill that I research. Could you let me know please? Thank you,

Her name would be Edna Davis Tomlinson. I am really looking for her husband, George Robert Tomlinson. Thanks,
