Bio Photo I came across your stone today, the weeds have overgrown.
The stone conveyed your name, your birth, and the date you reached the throne.
I put a picture on this site, a legacy to what you've sewn;
To living and to babes unborn, your history will now be known.

RE: Lucy Placke

I guess I have learned my lesson about trusting office cemetery records. My husband and I did go back the next day to the cemetery and did look for Lucy but we could not find a stone. The cemetery that Lucy is in is not very well marked and I was told by the office staff that that section of the cemetery is among their oldest. The stones are scattered about and they are not in descernable rows. I contacted the cemetery geneologist who told me that for $5.00 dollars she will go out and provide a work-up on any request for a persons cemetery information. She told me that if Find A Gravers will do it for free, than why should anyone have to pay for it but if the stone is hard to find, it might be worth it. Anyway, keep Lucy's request active because her stone might be there.

Lucy Placke
In preparation for the Find A Grave meetup I called the staff to help me find which people on my list had memorials and which did not. They told me to use the cemetery locator which would give me that information. Lucy is listed on their records as having no memorial but when I got there, I found several people who's records stated that they did not have a headstone but who in fact did. I went into the cemetery office to complain about the bad record keeping but they seemed indifferent. I never got a chance to look for Lucy's memorial so please check the photo requests to make sure the request is still active because I have found that the cemetery records office is unreliable and Lucy may indeed have a memorial.

RE: America Hale & Mary Hale
I will let Connie Brock, sexton of Gosport Cemetery, know that America Hale and Mary Anderson are most likely in that family plot.

RE: America Hale
Rhonda, I just checked with Connie Brock who has possession of all the records of Gosport Cemetery and takes care of lot sales and burials. There is no record of America Hale or Mary Anderson burials at Gosport. That does not mean they are not there. Do you have info such as obituary, or reason that you believe they are buried here and if they are buried in the family plot by parents or grandparents? That way we could add them to records and area they are probably buried in. Thx

RE: John Hale. Gosport Cemetery

I really liked the poem in your site. Would you mind if I used it also when I post a photo?
