Bio Photo My dad, Harold D. Bryarly, Jr. past in 1996 of cancer. I will never forget the look on my dad's face when I told him his brain tumor was not operable. It broke my heart.

My dad's friend, Steve Stone had been sick for a few years and was afraid to die. If I remember correctly, he had come close to deaths door a few times. He was by my dad's side when he took his last breath. I believe he needed to see that he didn't have to be afriad. He passed 6 months later.

Before my dad's passing, my family never really said I love you or hugged much. We do now. Don't be so sure that someone knows you care or love them, tell them, because one day you or them will be gone. I'm no longer afraid to say I love you. I want my friends and family to know without a doubt.

I began serious searching my family tree shortly after my dad passed. I've met many distant cousins and shared loads of info. It has been awesome. I've helped people with their trees. I'm not a professional genealogist. I find all my info on free sites or libraries. I will help anyone with their tree. I may not be able to give them any new info, but I sure will try.

My motto: "Not everything has to cost something."

I don't take money or material things for the help I provide. I only ask that they pass the kindness around.

I no longer live in LaGrange, IN, so work with memorials is strictly by corrections/additions. Sorry.

RE: Charles Preston
Hi, Paula,
Another nature lover! My backyard is full of geese and ducks. I leave pans of corn out at night for the deer because of the extreme weather. I keep thinking this will be over soon, but so far, no relief in sight. I spotted another 0 degrees coming up towards the end of the week! I hope everyone is feeding the birds. We are at our best when we are helping others!

Charles Preston
Hi, Paula,
I've entered Charles W.Preston,Jr. and Belle (Parrish) Preston at White Pigeon, also. You know, the three are buried together, with Charles Earnest Preston buried between Charles, Jr. and Belle Preston. How's that for a family group?! The lady who responded to my email at White Pigeon - Jean - sent me the whole page for that 8-grave plot. There are also two Ruples - looks like husband and wife. It dawned on me that I could enter all five of these people in Find a Grave, seeing that none of them had been done yet. So, I am working on that. I am never comfortable entering graves that I haven't seen (or are at least in the St. Joseph County Genealogical Society Cemetery Book), but Jean's information makes this possible.

Charles Preston
Hi, Paula,
With your help I did find Charles at White Pigeon, buried without a stone. He fits into the time span I mentioned - in fact, he is the oldest, b. in 1873, d. in 1959 Also, his name is listed as Charles Ernest Preston, and an obituary for his sister refers to him as Charles E. He may be buried with his wife,Belle, a Parrish, and son,Charles, Jr., who both died much earlier than he did. There are older Parrishes in the cemetery, so he may have chosen White Pigeon as a home because his wife was from there. I will not go any further than listing him as a son of William and Lucetta, however, at this time. Thanks again! Stay warm!

RE: Fred Preston
Hi, Paula,
Thank you so much! I will check at White Pigeon and get on this project right away. Maybe it will get my mind off this weather! It may be 10 below tonight. I spent the morning getting organized in case I lose my water again. I have faucets running, but I will never know if that will work until everything is over. Last year I lost my city water for five weeks because the line from the street to the house froze. I have owned a small house (it used to be a brick, one room school house) for fifty years just over the state line in Milton Twp., Cass Co., MI, so I hauled my water in from there. I go out every day to take care of my cats, but decided to stay in South Bend this afternoon because it was only 4 above zero. Tomorrow it is supposed to be 16 above. My old car will like that much better, but all of this is a worry! The Canada geese and mallards are parked on my property in South Bend all day waiting for corn. The deer were here after dark for their pan full. This is all so hard on everything and everyone! I hope all is well with you.

Paula,

Thank you for responding to me. You gave me enough information to help me continue my research. If it is no problem, I would like for you please, to transfer those memorials to me. Your information confirmed the information I have and the family would like it if I could take over those memorials. Thank you for your help and kindness. Jeff 46526842.

RE: Henry Melvin Machemer
Yes. His mother was Catharine Barclay, wife of Eli Franklin Machemer.
Incidentally, my mother, daughter of Henry and Mary, was named Eliza Catharine Machemer after her two grandmothers.

Hi Paula.

I was wondering if you had any additional information on this memorial. My great-great-great-grandparents Jacob #37007905 and Elizabeth #122058068 Rentfrow had a son William with the same birth year and death year as this memorial has. They also had a daughter Mary whom I am still trying to find and Naomi Jane - my great-great-grandmother whose memorial number I don't have at the moment. I had heard that William may have lived and passed on in Michigan. I am a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan and we used to pass through Mottville before they completed the U.S. 131 when we went to go visit relatives in Indiana. If you don't have anything, don't worry about it. I have been trying to find Mary and William so I can link them to Jacob, Elizabeth and Naomi. Thank you for your help. Jeff 46526842

RE: John Winney
Paula;
We are pretty sure John Winney died of Malaria in 1837 at his home near White Pigeon. Reports are are, there was not enough healthy people to bury the dead. Johns probate is on file in White Pigeon but it is not readable any longer.
Elizabeth is named first as the Admin but a short time later their oldest son William Winney is named. Our best guess is Elizabeth may have died soon after John and they are most likey buried on their farm a little ways South East of White Pigeon in unmarked graves.
John and Elizabeth are my 3rd Great Grandparents.
