I have been a family genealogist for the past 30-mumble years, and have collected a lot of information in that time. |
I was born and raised in Davidson County, NC, and most of my research is centered on Davidson County, NC, and the surrounding area, although I now live in Chapel Hill, NC.
Both of my parents passed away in 2009, and it was finding that a friend had added memorials for them here that got me started at Find-A-Grave.
I used the database to locate the grave of my maternal grandfather's sister at a small country church near Chapel Hill, and decided that it was so nearby, I just had to visit. I ended up photographing all the memorials I could find there and posted everything here! Now I'm hooked!
Except for that, most of my Find-A-Grave contributions so far are memorials for people I'm related to, one way or another, although I am planning my next adventure, to document the small cemetery at the orphanage where my mom grew up.

Barbara,Could you go to my email address and send me yours. I don't see it any where. Thanks, Phillip.
Thanks for the reply Barbara. I was looking thru the Hutchins reunion sign in book that I keep each year and noticed you were there in 2004 with others. I am still not clear who your parents are!! I just recently started this venture with the family tree and it is very interesting. Thanks

Hey Barbara, this is Phillip Hutchins. Dollie Caudle Hutchins was my Dad's Mother. My Dad was Albert Hutchins. Would you happen to have any info as far as William Ira Hutchins parents?? I have photos of him and birth and death dates but nothing further than that. Who was your parents. Sorry to hear they passed. Thanks.
Hope I am not repeating myself.
Margaret Hoover married Henry Andrew Tysinger in 1841.
I'm assuming Hoover Grove was named after her ancestors. I'm trying to find her husband Heny Andrew Tysinger's grave.
Her son, William Frank Tysinger death certificate shows him being buried at Hoover Grove. Cannot find this one either or his wife, Mary Jane Jones Tysinger.
Does the church have a record of who is buried in cemetery?

Your Find A Grave Memorial# 64567370. Thank you for posting the memorial to MJ. She was daughter to William Wall and Ruth Caroline Varker.
Ruth was daughter to my GGM, Mary Ann Wright [Varker] and Thomas Varker, an English miner - Captain of the Silver Hill mine.
Please let me know how you are related? I'm always looking for family. MJ is my 1st cousin 1x removed.
|John P. Jenkins||"Lost Cemeteries"|
I have been researching the "history" of the young children who died at Mills Home, (or as it is also known, Baptist Orphanage of North Carolina),and were buried at God's Acre, and found your name on the Find A Grave pages you helped create for those children. I was raised at Mills Home (July 1941 thru Sep 1954). I noticed your mother was also there. I have a specific unrelated question relating to "lost cemeteries". This cemetery is located in Bertie County, NC at a little "village" named Republican. My grandmother's death certificate states she was buried at Republican Cemetery in 1936. Through relatives who are now deceased, we managed to locate the cemetery. The cemetery is a sizeable one and located back in the woods. It was obvious that it had not been used for many years, was very overrun with ivy, bushes, etc.; the latest headstone we found was dated in the 1930s. I have tried for years to find someone who would be interested in trying to help me get this cemetery back on the map. Unfortunately, no NC state agency would help "for lack of funds". I guess my question is: Is there someone in "Find A Grave" (which I joined today) who might be willing to help me with this? Unfortunately, I live in New Mexico, so it is difficult to visit the cemetery. If you are interested, would you please contact me at my email address: email@example.com. I can furnish more info and pictures of the cemetery. It has been very frustrating trying to find someone with the expertise to help.

Thanks for the update and links.
I have no idea how that inscription came to be associated with this memorial. I did Farmington by spreadsheet and think it got all confused when uploaded to Find A Grave.

We have several things in common.
1) I am a retired physician and enjoyed and benefited from Dr. Netter's wonderful illustrations.
2) My brother married a woman from Fremont, NC and I have worked on their VERY LARGE family tree.
3) My niece went to Chapel Hill for undergrad and medical school.
