Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been working on my spouse's family tree since 1998 at the request of a relative. I have learned more than I thought possible. I did not like history until I started this quest, now I cannot get enough. I have met many relatives and friends along the way. I travel around Ohio on a fairly routine basis. In the summer of 2007 I participated in the restoration of many old family graves. Stop by and see our work at Wyckoff Cemetery, Vinton County, Ohio. I have hundreds of photos of relatives from all over Ohio and I add them to Find A Grave as time permits. I am listed as a volunteer photographer and I try to be as accommodating as possible.

I wish you well in your search for your family, friends, in-laws and outlaws. =^.,.^= Kitty

Campbell Family of Log Church
Kitty -

Our Campbell connection is interesting.
We once visited the Log Church in Ritchie County WV so we could pay our respects to Jacob Campbell and wife Mary.
But we couldn't push back the Campbell line to any earlier generation.
Do you happen to know who Jacob's parents were? Or anything further about that line?
All the best.
Cheers, Michael Kagay

William Hamer Cain at Olive Cem.
Kitty - Many thanks for your messages and for rectifying William Hamer Cain's memorial info. HAMER with only one "m" is the only way it's spelled in Cain family records, but I surely don't know the story behind it. Maybe it's pronounced Hay-mer (like the Scottish Hamish). No one else in the family ever used it, as far as I can tell. If you can transfer him to me, I'll take good care of him. As for the nickname "Willey," who can say what nicknames our ancestors were known by among their contemporaries ( Shorty, Lefty, Swifty, Sneezy, Doc, etc....)? They usually don't show up on tombstones, in wills or deeds, or in Bible records or formal family histories. I can't imagine what descendant alive today would possibly know the man's nickname, unless they possess letters, diaries, etc. Our Campbell connections are interesting. As I wrote on the Campbells' Findagrave memorial at Log Church Cemetery, Ritchie County, WV, we once tracked down that graveyard, and paid our respects. But we couldn't push the Campbells back any further. Do you happen to know who any of the earlier Campbells were? All the best to you. Cheers, - Michael Kagay

William Hamer Cain at Olive Cemetery
Kitty - Greetings and best wishes. Thank you for correcting the parents of William Hamer Cain at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell, Noble Co. By the way, I believe that "Hamer" should contain only one "m" -- at least HAMER is the way it was printed in the "Cain Family History" booklet by Claude W. Cain (Cain family historian) which was distributed at the Cain family reunion in 1954. It is such an unusual name, and I certainly don't know the origins of it, but there must be a story connected with it somehow. If you need to confirm this spelling, there is a copy of that booklet in Binder No. 2 of the CAIN material collected by Kay Barnhouse Stout, recently issued on DVD as the "Barnhouse Genealogical Collection" by the Noble County Historical Society. All the best to you. Cheers, Michael Kagay

William H. "Willey" Cain at Olive
WILLIAM H. "WILLEY" CAIN (1847 - 1918) at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell, Noble Co. OH is my great-grandfather on my mother's side. The "H" stood for Hamer. His wife was Ann Elizabeth Campbell (1848 - 1922), as listed in the memorial. However, I believe the parents currently attributed to him are incorrect. William's actual parents were Nathaniel Cain (1826 - 1903) and Rebecca Willey (1825 - 1912), both also buried at Olive Cemetery. The parents currently attributed to him -- John Cain (1815 - 1888) and Elizabeth (1819 - 1899), both buried at Sharon, Noble Co. -- are I believe William's uncle and aunt, i.e. Nathaniel's brother and sister-in-law. Elizabeth's maiden name may have been McGlashen. Elizabeth and John had children named John Jr., Jenny, and Jane -- NOT William. Can this be corrected? Many thanks. Cheers, - Michael Kagay

RE: Yoder, Mahlon d1981
You are welcome, Kitty. Let me know if there are any others you would like to manage. I only manage them until family members contact me, so I'm fine with transferring.

Best of luck with your genealogy pursuits.

Hi, Kitty.

I believe Mahlon's record is now transferred. It seemed to glitch again, but the success message came up. If there is still a problem for you, let me know.

Lucy Williams FAG 8206232

I am related to Lucy Williams's husband Albert Williams, and am a "2nd Cousin 3 times removed."

How are you related to Lucy (Ives) Williams? Maybe we could trade further information, as I have a huge datebase on the Williams family. I can send you a 426 page report on the Williams family. I can go back to about 1732 on the Williams family.

Hope to hear from you.
