Born 1955 in Middlebury's Porter Hospital and always lived in Bristol VT. Do genealogy of many of our families in Chittenden and Addison County. My wife, Denise Grace is also from two doors away. Your photo is very good. I know what you mean about surname variations--I've found 12 different spellings on one family line on my mother's side going back to 1450.

Alan ... A special "thank you" for taking time to photograph and post the tombstone of Revolutionary Patriot, Eliakim Culver (1754 CT - 1841 VT). Eliakim is my wife's 3x-great-grandfather.
Eliakim served as a member of Ethan Allen's "Green Mountain Boys," and was at the Battle of Saratoga.

Thank you so much for the time and effort to post Orman Flowers headstone photo.
The Flower family researchers will continue to try to figure out why he ended up with an "s" on his surname as he was born Flower, and had a land grant in that name. Perhaps he just gave up with people wanting to add the "s" which is still happening to us in this day and age.

Hey Alan,
I will definitely look for him. I know that most of the people in the Civil War are buried around the same section. It's the oldest part of the cemetery. Some of the older ones, the stones are hard to read. I vaguely remember seeing a Fred Bessette somewhere there.
