Bio and Links
Bio Photo Please let me take a moment to thank each and every one of you that leaves a token on any of my memorials. You will never know how much it means to me and how thankful I am for caring people like you!

I am very active here and am happy to do links, add bios, etc. So there is no confusion, please suggest your corrections through the Edit tab on the memorial, not on my profile page.

I respectfully request that if you have changes or additions to a memorial that I created, biographical information or an obituary, please do not leave the information in the flower/token section of the memorial. Instead, please use the Edit tab and send the information to me to include.

I am very generous with transfers; however, please remember that I have done the locating, researching, picture taking, linking, etc. I am thrilled when I can transfer memorials to family but if you are "collecting" names in your family tree, I am not obligated to transfer outside of Find a Grave guidelines.

"Remember friends as you pass by

"Pray think of Me as You pass by
As You are now so once was I
But now I lye Disolv'd to Dust
In Hopes to Rise among the Just"

RE: Hello my cousin!
Thanks for your reply. I would be so interested to see the record you have.

All I have is circumstantial evidence, really. My gg grandmother's death certificate states that her parents were Rhoda Ice and Algerine Martin. Both the Ice (John Dickens Ice) and Martin (Joseph) families lived in Marion County, W VA during their lives. Rhoda Ice is in the 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, and 1900 US censes all living with many of the same family members (sisters usually from 1870 on.) Her death record states she died single. So, I'm guessing this is the Rhoda Ice my gg grandmother claimed as her mother.

My gg grandmother was raised by the parents of Algerine and Peregrine Martin (twins) -- Joseph and Mary Martin of Marion County, W VA -- and is living with Joseph in the 1870 US census.

I also found a Civil War record showing Algerine (who fought with the 6th Regiment Infantry, Co B) in Fairmont, Marion, W VA during April of 1863, which is the month my gg grandmother would have been conceived. That particular regiment lost 177 men total (from wounds and disease.) I believe Algerine was among the dead as I can find no record of him after.

This is all circumstantial evidence pointing to this Rhoda Ice and Algerine Martin as my gg grandmother's parents, but it is quite compelling.
