Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Ardmore, Carter Co, OK where my husband jokingly says that I thought Noah's Ark had landed.

For thirty plus years I have been involved in genealogy. When my mother died, she left some notes about a few ancestors she had uncovered and hoped I would continue her research. That was the hook-in-the-jaw that changed my life. I only regret that I have missed out on so many years that I could have used. Alas, all those family stories that went in one ear and out the other, and all those family members who took so much information to the grave with them.

I am, however, thankful for the tools that are now available and for FindAGrave, a platform that I have spent many hours gaining from and contributing to.

If I have created a memorial for a member of your family, who isn't related to me, and you can add a biographical sketch I will be glad to transfer it to you. However, many have received a transfer/transfers & have never added anything. This isn't fair to kin who may come along later who can do so.

An exception to the above are my Bell, Dodson, Beal, & Love ancestors and kin, most of whom have numerous descendants. Much of the information contained in their memorials is the result of many years of tedious research, and as new information comes to light, I would like to be able to make those changes. For these memorials please follow FindAGrave guidelines for transfers.
*****

Instructions for ALL REQUESTS for corrections, additional information, or transfers:

1. Go to the memorial page, which has an "Edit" tab located on the upper right side of the memorial.
2. Click on the "Edit" tab, then click on the Suggest a correction or provide additional information link, which opens a message page.
3. Type in your message.

Making a request this way insures that no mistakes are made, because it takes me to the exact memorial.

Thanks for your understanding.

Pearl Cantonwine Jackson
Hi! Marilyn, I appreciate your transfer of Pearl's listing to me, but I was OK with your initial response (negative) to my request. Once I had seen how much information you had gathered from newspapers, etc. it made sense that you continue to own the listing. I've added a little more to her listing tonight . . . if you would like to have the listing back, please don't hesitate to let me know.

I can't remember if I've asked how you are related to Pearl. Ann Koch

When I work my family tree and take a look at Find A Grave, I always update names, dates and places of death and relationships. I think that as a genealogist and not a numbers person, that is very important to individuals just getting started in genealogy.

RE: Pearl Jackson
Hi! Virginia, thanks so much for taking care of the errors in the spelling of Cantonwine, etc.

Can I ask how you are related to the Cantonwines? I keep a record of all the folks I contact in researching the Cantonwine family so that if I find something, I can let the correct family researcher know about it.

I, too, have been baffled at the lack of any records re. Elihu and Emma Cantonwine outside of the 1880 census for Holden, MO.

Thanks for letting me know about all the newspaper articles you posted! It made for some interesting reading.

FYI: I received the below info from Elihu's sister Harriet some years ago:

Below text is from Hazel Cantonwine, daughter of Bertron, grand-daughter of Abraham's brother Samuel.

My father's name was Bert Jackson Cantonwine. He lived in Shubert, Nebraska when he met my mother, Ada Davis. They were married in 1884, then they came to Holden, Mo. about 54 miles south of Kansas City, Mo. My sister Ethel A. Cantonwine was born there 20 July 1885. At that time Abraham's sons Elihu and Charley were working on the railroad that went through Holden so Mother knew them. Elihu's wife had a boarding house for railroad men so mother helped her. Elihu had a daughter, Pearl, who married a Mr. Jackson, a railroad man. They lived in Sedalia, Mo.

Keep in touch, Virginia and I'll send you anything new I might find on Elihu and Emma. Ann Koch
