Cemetery photos are extremely helpful for remembering loved ones and genealogy research. I am hoping to help persons by posting cemetery photos. I believe it is extremely important to know cause of death for hereditary reasons. I have also posted death certificates where available to aid in research and identify family hereditary disorders. I also try to add newspaper obits if I have one. All of this combined tells a shortened story of a person's life on earth.
My husband's (Phil) side goes back to the early days of New Haven, Connecticut, he is descended from Matthew Gilbert. We have researched the lines of Baker, Lemon and McInally (married daughters of Isaac Gilbert of Woodhouse, Ontario. Phil's father's mother comes from the "Parent" family who were early settlers in Detroit, MI and Tecumseh, Ontario. Both these lines are huge especially going all the way back to Matthew Gilbert.
My side is much harder to trace back. My father's family came from Mezokovesd, Hungary. My mother's came from Austria-Hungary where place names have been changed. I have to resort to reading microfilm in Hungarian and Latin which is very time consuming.
I hope that we have been able to help you out in your research. Happy Hunting !!
William O. Gilbert & Essie Betts Dear Nancy, I'm trying to link family members together and am 55% sure William's spouse is Mary Esther Betts, except her birth date is unclear in the photograph of the stone monument. The census docs for 1910 and 1920 have birth of Essie at 1876 and 1877 respectfully NOT 1870. Could the zero be a six in the photograph? The Cole Family tree on Rootsweb has Birth: 3 Dec 1875 in Wilton, Fairfield County, CT and a marriage date of Married: 1904 in Ridgefield, Fairfield County, CT
Any help at all is greatly appreciated!! Cheers, Marcialyn
Carolyn Hodge Please read my profile. I am tired of seeing the certificates added to memorials that I have added. If I wanted them on there, I would add them. These are memorials to people not genealogical storeage areas. Thank you. Mike
Wm. E. Brothwell/Nancy Brothwell Hi Nancy...thanks for all the hard work and great info you provide! I'm struggling to "untangle" some folks.....Thomas Brothwell (my 4thggf) married Hannah French, they had a dau Betsey Brothwell (died age 15) and Wm. Brothwell (died age 25). Hannah passed at age 63. Nancy Webb applied for Thomas' war pension, stating she married him -May-1830; the 1850 census finds a Nancy Brothwell living with a Wm. Edgar Brothwell age 18 (b. abt 1830) and a Betsey Ann Brothwell age 17 (b. abt 1831). I've located a headstone for Betsey A. Brothwell Gilbert (m. to Enoch Gilbert) and a headstone for Wm. E. Brothwell shared with Nancy Brothwell (b. 1806)...do you know 1) if Nancy Webb Brothwell is the mother of Wm. Edgar and Betsey Ann? There would have been a 40-yr age diff. btwn Thomas and Nancy at the time they were wed, so I'm thinking I might be tracking the wrong Nancy Brothwell. Any light you are able to shed, would be most helpful. Thank you!
