Bio and Links
Bio Photo I retired as an elementary school principal in 2000. As a person that sleeps only 4 hours a night that leaves 20 hours to fill. Sitting home is not an option. Now, I drive a school bus 5 hours a day and visit cemeteries every chance I get. I have never been to a cemetery that charged admission and seldom is there a crowd. My wife, Sandra, is of a like mind so it works well. We both enjoy the hunt and the thrill that comes with each discovery. Let us know if we can help. If you have additional information on one of my post or you are a relative and want ownership, I will gladly transfer it to you. Just ask. Oh! By the way just call me Doc!
NOTE: Many times the family plot has names different from those on the headstone. I always attempt to provide a reference point for markers. Hope this is not confusing.

Two quotes worth remembering:

"Tread softly, dreams are buried here." Unknown

"If you wonder about your 'roots' you have two parents, four grandparents eight great-grandparents and 16 great-great-grandparents, and by the time you go back 10 generations 300 years or so- you had 1,024 people from whom you are directly descended. --Mady Castro

Thanks Doc
I have been all over those stones of Henry and Lydia Plott and probably if they had been a snake they would have bit me. I know now bout where they are. I went around that little road where you could look down off of your right down into the newer section of the cemetery. And also on the right of the road there is a real big tree where the roots of the tree are buckling up the pavement. And i also got to looking at Henrys stone and in the background a see a marker with the two round columns on it and the marker with a statue of what looks like a woman. should be a whole lot easier too find now. Thank you Doc for taking the time to respond to my message.

Well Doc,
I would be honored to have him. Actually I was hoping you might be related... I'm always looking for "new", personable and friendly sorts to add to my tree :)
So, if we're not related, I would welcome the transfer.
Many thanks

Pawnee Calaway Owen Rogers death location
Pawnee died in Jacksonville, Duval, Florida. Here are 2 index citations. Please note that her name is mispelled on both of them.

Paunee Owen Rogers. "Florida, Deaths, 1877-1939," index, FamilySearch.

"Florida Death Index 1877-1998."
Has the same date but spells her name:
Mrs. Paunce Owen Rogers.

THis information has also been given to me orally by a grandson of hers.

She is buried in Thomas cemetery.

Thanks for all your work! I think this will help a lot of people.

Hello, i was surprised to see a picture of my Gr-Grandmother Louise Lightfoot, on her tombstone in Crawfordville Ga. At the Battery Bapt.Church.
being she was African American i didn't know they would do that. i was wondering how it was possible.?.That must've cost some money.
