How to find oldest graves (thanks Mike Maxton!)
1) Begin a new search
2) In the last name field, enter 123.
3) Check the box for "Do partial name search on surname".
4) Choose BORN BEFORE 1840.
5) Choose DIED AFTER 1400.
These are a little counter-intuitive. The death year after 1400 (you can vary this some, if you like) is EXCLUDING all the unknown death years. But if we just did those death years, we would be looking at hundreds of thousands of records, so we narrow it further by adding BORN BEFORE 1840. If you are looking at a County that is very old, you may want to narrow the search even further by changing to BORN BEFORE 1820 or older.
6) Choose a State and a County. You can't do the complete US or a state, in most cases. Your query will time out before you get any results.
7) Choose order by death date.
If you haven't over-loaded the servers, you'll get a result in about 60 seconds.

just add &GSob=d to the end of a cemetery's url ... sort cemetery by death date ... likewise, use &GSob=b to sort by birth date.

RE: KWB, topsoil, and grass seed
I am not a family member. I do know family members. I have snuck top soil but it has washed away. Someone else was going to seed it but didn't. Needs thinkings.

RE: Robert South Barrett
I went in this morning and put in links to all the other Barrett children to both parents including Kitty Pozer and Lila Alfriend who were missed. Someone had picked up Reba. All of KWB's children are at Aquia except Charles who is at Arlington National Cemetery after being buried a couple of different abroad after he died during WWII and baby Witters who is with the Barretts in Wytheville. Do you know the PL who posted so many of graves at Aquia?

RE: Robert South Barrett
I am so pleased to have inaccurate memorial gone and "mine" linked. You of course know Mary Kerry as I do. When last I was at Aquia, I thought that KWB's grave needed a load of top soil and some grass seed. It is the right time of year. What do you think?

RE: Airey Neave
no I think the Vicar had been there a while but he must have had a bad day, glad it has been sorted though, never heard of Hinton Waldrist and I thought I knew that area fairly well

Edwin--I have made the changes that you suggested on the RSB memorial. I am glad the other is gone. People keep getting confused. I hope to get all the children linked to the parents. I think I put in suggestions but not all have been yet accepted. I need to get back on it. I had great difficulty finding the RSB grave which is really odd. I knew he died in Wytheville. He wasn't included in the pre-findagrave lists of graves that the historical society had although his parents were. I figured there wasn't a chance that KWB buried her beloved husband without a marker--and so she didn't. A DAR friend went out in the snow to find him. We were quite confused posting the Bible verses until we realized that we were using Revised Standard and KWB used King James. Then it worked. I might add a picture of him. Are you a relative? Well done you! I thought I was going mad. As Find A Grave look after this memorial it may take a while to change - perhaps a photo from the correct location will help. I tried to get them to edit his full name but the edit was refused.

RE: Airey Neave grave
I did check with the Rector of the church before I made the memorial and was told he is buried there, perhaps no stone was erected at the time because of the circumstances of his death

RE: Airey Neave
I have asked the person who originally created the memorial; she tells me that the vicar said he was certainly there. I think, with local knowledge, and a better look he could be located which is why the request should stand. I can try again later in the year unless someone else does it.
