Alice Hester
RE: James Y McKinney
The middle name is given on his WW I draft registration card.
My great grandmother was Beulah Thomasson Stinnett. My research shows she is an aunt to James. Are you related?

Mary Jane Beaird Price
Hi, I am researching my maternal grand mothers family. Her name was Jennie M Beaird, I think that Mary Jane Beaird Price was her aunt, her father was Ulysses Grant Beaird and from research done by my Uncle Mary Jane was his sister. I see you posted a photo of Mary Jane, it looks like it was part of a family photo do you have the complete photo? If you have the complete photo could you possibly email it to me? Thanks, Tom McCoy

Stiles Cemetery
I came across a message you left about the Stiles Cemetery in Thrall, TX. One of my daughters is married to a Stiles whose ancesters lived on their ranch there. Before the town was named Thrall after a Methodist minister, the site was known as Stiles Switch due to a RR depot stop on the Stiles Ranch.
Who is your relative buried in the Stiles Cemetery? I don't know if the cemetery is located on land still owned by the Stiles family. I might be able to find out more information about it.

Best regards,
Kathy Armstrong

Cemetery Access
Lisa, i live in Missouri and i know here it is state law to allow family access to cemeteries on private land. in fact here they are not allowed to block roads, install locked gates unless hours are posted and they must remain unlocked during those hours. i would check Texas law too. i hope its the same!

Access to cemeteries
Lisa, google Texas Cemetery Laws and it will bring up a lot of resources to answer questions about access to cemeteries on private property. They actually cannot refuse but they can require certain set hours for access or even require you to set up an appointment for access. However, I do not believe they are allowed to forbid access. These are usually governed by the County level jurisdiction laws. I have a friend who has helped co-wright laws into legislation on these types of issues for the State of Texas. She as well has been honored by the Texas State Senate for the work she has done for the preservation of our cemeteries and the upkeep for them. I have an Aunt and Uncle buried in Stiles, Texas. Possibly a different location but there is not much there. I am still scratching my head wondering why they were buried there in the first place. They actually lived outside of Big Spring, Texas. I hope on your next visit the cemetery will be cleaned up. I find it very disgraceful for land owners to allow these historical landmarks to deteriorate the way some do. I just wanted to give you a lead on what your rights are. Hopes for a better world of respect for our deceased, Lester (#47859148).

Stiles Cemetery, Thall, Texas
I see that you have been to this cemetery and took a number of photos. Did you reach it by taking the private road by the Stiles Cemetery Sign on Highway 79? I found a locked gate and a no trespassing sign.

Who did you contact to gain access to the cemetery. Their name and telephone number would be appreciated.

I have learned that the cemetery is on land owned by Frank Stiles whose property adjoins that of Steve Stiles. I think that the private road leads to Steve Stiles' land.

Thanks in advance

Joshua Seale Memorial# 7068404

Just a quick question about Joshua's year of birth if I may. I see the headstone says he was born in 1775 (per the census) but the memorial says 1765. A 10 year difference is somewhat significant so I'm wondering as his descendent if can tell me which one is closer?

Many thanks!

Grave of Thomas Martin Ball
Since he died in San Francisco, it's probable he was buried in Colma, just south of there. San Francisco has had no active cemeteries since the late 1800's and Colma is where most people from there are interred. I found a grave of my great aunt's there after calling numerous cemeteries in that town.
