Bio Photo A Southern Family Tree is not a tree but a beautiful Wisteria Vine with many branches going everywhere and a lost root!

To keep weeds out of the beautiful Find A Grave garden....

First, I don't link to Burial Unknown Site Memorials as BU shouldn't be on FAG according to the guidelines of the website. The first criteria for making a memorial on FAG is having the burial site, as this is a grave registration site. When you made a BU, you have a chance of losing the memorial to the member who "Find A Grave" in the cemetery.

Second, I may or may not transfer outside of the guidelines to an established member. It is my choice. Long-time hard working-members, who are busy in surveying cemeteries and taking grave photos impress me more than someone who is collecting others' memorials for their personal goal or waiting for someone to find the burial sites for their numerous memorials made with an "unknown burial site".

Lastly, there are no duplicated memorials on FAG. If I find a duplicated memorial while researching this site, there is 99% chance that it will be deleted or merged eventually.

You may disagree with the guidelines but remember the guy who started Find A Grave wrote them. He is the boss.

Many of the memorials transferred to me were done without my request for them. These memorials have found a home and will be nurtured.

Also, thank you for all the flowers and tokens left on my family's memorial. They are all sincerely appreciated by me and my family.

Need memorial for bio in flowers
Hi, Linda! I appreciate you taking time to write and tell me about bio info in virtual flowers, but you forgot to tell me which memorial you visited that prompted your message to me on July 24.

Please let me know which memorial so that I can contact the manager.

BTW, I'm aware of the Find A Grave guidelines for virtual flowers, but it just says bio info "should not be included", which I must've misinterpreted. I shouldn't smoke, but I do. :)

Raymond Colby
Hi: I would like to transfer Raymond Colby to you since you know the information that needs to be changed or corrected. I am not related, just doing some volunteer F.a.G work.if you agree, go ahead and use the edit tab . I'll be happy to transfer. Thanks, Fay C

RE: Memorials
Yes, I knew about that. I like the new system, but it seems a lot of folks still haven't heard about it.

One of my problems was with managers who refused to add new information, esp. regarding veterans or military graves. Something as simple as refusing to allow their military rank to be entered. I guess I have the option of asking Find A Grave to add it then, after 30 days. Thank you.

RE: Memorials
Thank you concerning your thoughts about information shared on "flowers." I'm sure you are correct. It's a shame there is not another mechanism.

However, I have had VERY little success in general, with getting people to put additional information into the bio section, even when making a simple request(s) and doing it politely, yes. I guess I am taking chances of having the information deleted, so it is kind of a toss-up. I have had trouble with the managers who are into the "ownership" thing, i.e. 'this is MY memorial, and I will only allow what I want it to have, on it, and nothing else.' Flowers, unfortunately, are the only way to even attempt to get additional information on when you are dealing with managers of some memorials. I appreciate your feedback.

Inappropriate flower on David Merrill's memorial
Thank you for letting me know about this "flower", I asked the "flower person" to delete that entry.

RE: B Us
Basically that's it. Not that I'm lazy, but I have several thousand pictures to enter onto F-A-G, and prefer to use my time that way. Whenever anyone contacts me, I'm happy to transfer management. Hope that's not wrong.

Hi Linda: I appreciate what you are doing but I don't know how to help except to transfer management of those headstones to you so you can make whatever corrections are needed. My sister and I strive to take "complete" cemeteries, then enter them onto F-A-G so others can benefit from them. If we come across one that is already on there, but lacks a photo, we add the photo.
Is there something else I should / could do to aid you in your quest??? Pauline

RE: Flowers
Thank you for your sincere sentiments.

My husband was an attorney and his legacy to me was that interpretations are interpretations. In certain cases, those interpretations have led to world wars: in others, the interpretations matter so little that they are dismissed with the degree of respect they merit.
