Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy for about ten years now. I am a member of the DAR and Mayflower Society, and I am constantly working to find and document anything interesting about family members. It is a very consuming hobby, but the rewards are great.
If anyone finds mistakes, needs to add info or needs me to make any changes at all just let me know. PLEASE USE THE EDIT TAB on the memorial page, it does make it easier for me to do quickly.
I do appreciate any extra info that I can add to my memorials. If I have taken a picture and it is not clear please let me know and I will be glad to go retake it, or if you would like a higher quality sent to you by email, I will try to do that.

The Proper Way to Clean a Headstone
from the International Association of Cemetery Preservationists

It is recommended that clean clear natural spring water only be used for cleaning historical cemetery structures. Do NOT use harsh chemicals, high pressure hoses or equipment, or abrasive tools of any kind.

Use soft-bristled brushes with natural or plastic bristles. Never use a wire brush or any metal object for cleaning. Automobile detailing brushes are very handy for cleaning historic headstones and monuments.

At one time it was recommended to use shaving cream as a cleaning agent on headstones and monuments. This came about when cemetery photography became more popular and inscriptions couldn't be read well. Do NOT use shaving cream to clean headstones or monuments. It has now been found to damage the stone because of the often high levels of alcohol and menthol in the shaving cream.

Jacob and Rachel Spurgin
I noted that you posted the burial information on Rachel Rainey Spurgin. I am searching for the parents of Jacob Spurgin, Rachel's second husband. If you come across any information relating to Jacob Spurgin other than what you have posted on this site, please let me know. I recently found out that Clement Spurgin, Jacob and Rachel Spurgin's son is buried about 75 miles from where I live. I did a double take when I saw the name Clement as the first Clement was 1624 and was an ancestor of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, famous Baptist preacher. If I can find Jacob's parents I can tie him and his family into the main Spurgeon family. I would be most appreciative for anything you might find. Thanks in anticipation,

Peter Eddy Memorial #44300436
Just wondering where the information about Peter Eddy's family was obtained.
I also have information about a Peter Eddy with the same parents and mostly the same siblings, but this other Peter Eddy was buried in Evans Cemetery in Tyler County, West Virginia.
My mom has been working on this family tree and comes up against a wall when the research concerns Peter Eddy. We're very confused and would really like to get the correct information for our family tree.
Any help you can give us on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

You noted "no headstone found". Just wanted to let you know I was out there today and posted picture of headstone to memorial page. Thought you might want to remove the notation.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. And thank you for adding the obit. That has cleared up who Isabel was...John's mother or Anna's mother...they were both Isabel's and both born in 1860. I am actually searching for information on Anna Bowie Fisher. So thank you for going the extra mile. It is greatly appreciated!

are you related to John W. Fisher-Gunion memorial #42973669? I have a question about the headstone for John. It includes a Anna and an Isabel. If you know about this family I have some questions.
Thank you
