My husband and I enjoy finding monuments for other people and am extremely grateful to the volunteers who have found my own people for me. We've been working on finding the little pioneer cemeteries in the area and putting their inhabitants online. Four of our memorial pages even helped to catch a gravestone thief. Cemeteries are extremely vulnerable to vandalism, theft, and the damage of time and weather. We appreciate all of the volunteers out there who are working so hard to document them before they are lost to history. |

I'm not a numbers addict or collector, but I adhere to Findagrave policy:
◊Find A Grave's primary purpose is a graves registration website.
◊Find A Grave's secondary purpose is a memorialization/remembrance site.
◊Find A Grave's tertiary purpose is a genealogical resource.
Transfers are only made within the guidelines set up by Find A Grave. These guidelines are in place for a reason - whether one cares to accept them or not. I am not going to debate what the owner has deemed acceptable for his site with members who choose not to agree with the guidelines. "The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I am willing to consider transferring ownership to you if you have a close family member among my records. I rarely transfer relationships more distant than first cousin... just having someone "in my family tree" or "a relative" will not elicit a transfer.
If you want information added to a memorial, go to the memorial and use the "Edit" tab to send me the information-- including family links. I will add information to the memorial, I do not transfer just because someone wants to add links or other information. Bottom line: what are you planning on doing with the entry that I haven't already done or am unable to do?
On the other hand, if you upload family photos or in some other way add value to the memorial, I am much more willing to transfer. I will always transfer a memorial if you sponsor it.
I welcome all corrections to my own work. Some records were imported using OCR so have inevitable errors, both from the original records and from machine interpretation. I am only human and make mistakes, too, but will always make it priority to correct them.

Carrie and Allen,
Thank you so much for creating the memorial for my great, great uncle Bert Christensen. I appreciate your, time, effort and attention to detail. Today I sponsored Bert's memorial to remove the ads and, hopefully, gain ownership from you if you would agree to do so.
I have personally created memorials for Bert's sister and other family members. I have been given permission to take over Bert's mother's memorial and await that transfer. I simply wish to link the family together and have personal access for ongoing updates of information as my family research has turned into a full time hobby and is always evolving.
Thanks again and best wishes to you both.

Thank you for your quick response regarding Ivan. There seems to be mystery regarding Ivan's birthplace. Not to make things more complicated, there were two Martha Tindells, the one that died in Eugene, Martha veach Tindell was not our ancestor but a neighborhood friend of Martha Cardwell Tindell, their families knew of each other. In fact Martha Veach Tindell was the 1st wife of Mr. Tindell in 1865, by 1871 he had married our great grandmother Martha A. Cardwell. She was married to Ivan. Apparently there was a family dispute,Ivan had left Canyonville, and lived & died in Prineville. Martha A. Cardwell Moore's mother Mary Polly Hitchcock Cardwell despised Ivan. The Poole/Cardwell families were involved and buried Martha A. Cardwell Moore under Tindell in Canyonville,Douglas, Oregon. The children John Moore age 4 & Grover Moore age 2 were raised by the Poole family, as well as 3 Tindell children.

Thank you for sharing information on Ivan Moore, he is my wife's great grandfather, I too found out there was no grave marker for him, would very much appreciate if you could tell us where did you find out where he was born? Shawna & I sent letter on the 18 Sept 2007, and at that time was told by the funeral home, he was in fact buried there in the cemetery, he was one of about 20 graves that are listed "unknown placement".
If you could please verify place of birth, this can really help us with our research.

Hi-- I added the actual date of death. You had only the date of interment posted and may want to modify the statement. Thanks
Hi I also added her husband's pic and a view that shows a baby buried with them but no name.
Happy New Year!
