RE: Re Elsie VanGorden / Levi Middaugh
Hi Jane,
So, I think I got the VanGordens figured out.. There are 3 Moses VanGordens in my tree on my paternal grandfathers side. Moses VanGorden Brisco was my Great Grandfather, His mothers(Elizabeth VanGorden)father was Moses VanGorden Jr was my GGgrandfather, and Moses VanGorden Sr. was my GGG father. (2nd wife Elsa)

The Retallicks are my husbands ancestors. Rev John came from England in 1823 with his wife Catherine shortly after marriage. He is my husbands GGG Grandfather. They had 5 children, John Jr, the oldest, 3 girls and William the youngest. William died at the age of 34 and is buried in Hope, NJ. John Jr, being the GG grandfather, had 3 sons. Frank, George and William, his Ggrandfather,(who he probably named after his brother.) Rev John died March 10, 1896 at 95. John Jr, died a month later on April 10, 1896, at 64. He had been bedridden for a few years.

I how that helps on the Retallick end. Let Nicole know. If she needs help, I'd be happy to. Is she local to Pike Co, PA? I live in Milford and the cemeteries are all very close to me.

RE: Re Elsie VanGorden / Levi Middaugh
Hi Jane,
Moses Van Gorden was my 3rd great grandfather. I am getting my information from a book, Commemorative Biographical Record of NE Pennsylvania, published in 1990. It greatly defines his first wife and family, but only mentions marrying a Mrs. Elsa Middaugh, after the death of his first wife, Elizabeth Van Etten. Thank you for setting me straight. Are you related? Love this stuff, find something new all the time. I am in the process of photographing the graves of my ancestors to add to my family tree, a lot of which are very close by. I happily live on the last 3 1/2 acres of my paternal grandmothers farm, in Dingman Twp. PA. The Van Gordens lived two townships down in Lehman. Let me know if I can ever help you out..

RE: Capt Thomas DeKay, Jr
Hi Jane, I just finished reading your very interesting post to me regarding the three De Kay burial grounds. What a wonderful piece of work you and your colleagues have performed in straightening out some very old but very important information on the DeKay family! My husband is a fifth great-grandson of Thomas and Mary Roe De Kay. Thank you for contacting me, I very much appreciate having the corrected information. Regards, Jane Lawrence

Regarding Soyeryne Bennet the elder.
HelLo!

Do you have lots of left-over turkey? Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the turkey the national bird, but the bald eagle won out. I think Franklin had the right idea.

I transcribed the obituary for Mr S. You can delete the scanned image at your convenience. I know I have lots left to transcribe for my part, but I only transcribe them as I happen come upon them. (I don't seek them out. Shhhh!)
