An interest in local history resulted in a collection of biographies and obituaries for a book I published containing names of settlers in the area who happen to be members of Western Star Lodge No. 240 AF and AM and an unpublished manuscript about officers of the city police department. This led to many treks through local and regional cemeteries which prompted my interest in geneology. |
If you find errors or changes necessary in any of my entries, please feel use the edit tab on the memorial and send me the information. I will gladly answer any and all inquiries.
I am interested in family names Godwin, Heubner, Reynolds, Wittenmyer and Buckles from south and west central Indiana and Kentucky.
If you find a relative (within Find-a-Grave guides) I will gladly transfer management of any of my entries. To avoid further errors and mismatched information, however, I will promptly honor only requests through use of the edit tab on the memorial. A family member should maintain these and enter additional information.

Hi, I worked with Mark's Mother, Lois, for a few years at the Univ of IL. I think he died in 1994 or 1995. I thought he was buried somewhere in Champaign-Urbana. I did a little looking around and found an obit for another family member.
His named is spelled Mark in the obit.
I will keep looking to see if I can find where he is buried.

Good luck with your research!

David. I just don't know how you can find any information. Have you sent for this person's military records? I have the same problem with my great grandfather who was killed in MO. Finally found out from the cemetery he was probably buried in a mass grave. Wish I could help you, I know how frustrating it can be.
Thanks for the e-mail and your generosity on
the memorial. I hope I have it correct.

|carol blohm||RE: Mary Taylor Godwin|
Yes! We have the same relative. I believe Godwin had several wives and, if I remember correctly, my grandmother Mary Corn Taylor was his second one. Mary's parents were Jesse Corn and Agnes (have not verified her last name). She married Isaac Taylor 3 January 1856; she was his second wife. Isaac divorced his first wife. Mary and Isaac had two children: Samuel Cleveland Taylor born 11 August 1857 in Edwardsport IN (Knox Cty) and William Lewis born 9 December 1859 in Knox Cty. Isaac died in 1860 leaving Mary with two infants. I know of Isaac's death date only through the sale of farm land. I do not know why he died or where he was buried. I would love to find out and have worked on this question for a long time. I have more information if you are interested. In a history of Knox Cty I found a brief account of the Godwin family and some biographical info about William with the writer's name, a Godwin. However, when I wrote this person my letter was returned. I would love to know more about the family. So, thank you for contacting me and I would love to hear from you. I live in Illinois. Where are you?

I'm sure that I will miss more, too. But if we all work together, it will all work out!
