Re headstone and cemetery photos:
1.In some cases, clicking on the photo will provide a much better view of the inscription.
2.Some of my photos are not of the highest quality, especially the earlier uploads. If you have a better one, don't hesitate to add it--but please let me know.
3. Headstone and cemetery photos which I have posted here were all taken by me, except two which were given to me by a cousin and a friend, who have been acknowledged on the photos.
>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<
4. About copying headstone photos: Please read Find-a-grave Policy
My photos are here to honour the people named on the headstones, and to be shared,....but if copied to any other location PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE AND CREDIT THE SOURCE.
--------------------------------------- The above notes have been posted since 2011. The following was added April 2013:
Given the number of photos found on ancestry.com with no credit, it seems the above is not clear. Headstone and cemetery photos may be uploaded to other sites if (and only if) they are properly source credited. The source of the photo is the find-a-grave website, and the photographer.
Please include the full website name "Find A Grave", so that anyone who sees it does not have to guess what "FAG" means, and how they might find other memorials of interest to them.
The above applies only to my photos. I cannot speak for other contributors.
Regarding my fellow contributors who do NOT allow their photos to be uploaded elsewhere: they have taken photos, and in some cases have also created the memorials. They have thereby shared images and information with anyone on the face of the earth who has access to the open internet. Calling them "hoarders" is not only offensive, it makes no sense. If they were "hoarding" their photos, the photos would not be on this website in the first place ! The decision that their photos appear only on the Find-a-Grave website is one they have every right to make. I am grateful that these folks are part of the find-a-grave community, even if their choice about the use of their photos may not be exactly the same as my choice about the use of mine. | |
