Photography is a hobby of mine and I enjoy volunteering for Find A Grave. I got started when I was moving from my home state of NJ to North Carolina. I realized I would not be able to visit my grandmother in person once I moved, so I went for a "last visit" and took some pictures.

I was then doing some research and stumbled across this website and thought what a great idea. I created a memorial for my grandmother Theresa Bridget Dougherty Kane and have volunteered ever since. Please feel free to stop by and visit her... she loves flowers :-)(#10932834)

Visiting cemeteries may seem strange to some but they are very beautiful, tranquil places. You can think your thoughts, remember your loved ones and be humbled by how short life can be. It has also provided me the opportunity to explore the back country roads of my new home state while helping others stay connected to their friends and family.

Hearn
Hello,

Could you please remove the photo's you placed on Find A Grave Memorial# 21597237. The cemetery location was wrong, and her memorial page has since been moved to the Hearn Family plot.

(It's a different place than the Hearn Cemetery photo's you have there).

Thanks so much for your help!

Mike

RE: Kanes at Holy Sepulchre
It's unfortunate that this info wasn't posted earlier or I would have had the photo two weeks ago. I took a photo of the Ryan family name on a slab at lot P 222. See the third photo at the Ross memorial at 92517163.

RE: Kanes at Holy Sepulchre
I frequently wonder why people who want photos of graves don't first call the cemetery to find out where the grave is located in order to tell volunteer photographers where to look. Do people really think we can find a grave merely by traipsing around cemeteries with tens of thousands of graves?

I had asked someone to call and get location info on one person. She did and then made an additional request for about 9 more people with locations. I got all of them yesterday.

In about 3 months, going one day a week, I have photographed over 100 requests because I knew where to look.

I'll be back there again but only as long as there are enough graves that I know where to find to make the trip worthwhile.

Kanes at Holy Sepulchre
Could you call the office and get the locations of the Kanes for me. I'll be at HS this weekend and if I can get the photos I will. But this cemetery will not give me location info. Without that info, and with such a large cemetery the only way I would find them is by chance while spending my time looking for a grave where I have the information. Help me so I can help you.

Family history
Michael Joseph Kane married Anna Kane and had a daughter Monica Kane who was my father's first wife (but not my mother). They also had a son, John Archer Kane who married Theresa Bridget Kane, your grandmother. John and Theresa had a son Weldon Kane, born 1928. I'm hoping to find out more about Weldon Kane and would appreciate any family history information you coud provide.

Regards, George Christensen

Thanks for the pics and updates. I "inherited" these memorials which I think were entered from a book and there are quite a number of dates that are off, please feel free to send me any corrections you find!

Sally Henley Whitley
Thanks so much for the Whitley photos at Poplin Grove. They really helped me piece together most of that family branch. I found that I hadn't submitted a photo request for one of the Whitley daughters (which I just submitted), and I also went back and checked my sources on Sally Henley Whitley .. the one you couldn't find ... I'd found her name listed on the following rootsweb "Poplin's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery" list:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ncstanly/PoplinGroveBapChCem.htm

I did just notice they have her first name spelled Sallie, where I've been using Sally, but all of the dates, etc. are still the same. I searched for other Henley's, to see if maybe she was with her husband's family .. but she appears to be the only Henley on the list.

I'm not sure how that list was put together, but hopefully, she'll turn up there someday.

Once again, I really appreciate your time and effort for all of the photo's you posted. It was a big help!

Thank You,
Mike
