Bio and Links
Bio Photo My interest in Find A Grave began while researching my family history.

After creating memorials for my ancestors, I transcribed obituaries from extant Chicago and Minneapolis newspapers for other genealogists.

For the past few years the focus has been on taking cemetery photos - my true passion. I add pictures and/or memorials to Find A Grave almost every day.

I will gladly update any memorial in my care with a sourced request. Simply share a few details about how you know something to be true when you submit an edit (using the edit tabs please).

Like you, I am a volunteer. I participate in this labor of love because I believe it's an important part of our history.

Inside voices and good manners are very much appreciated.

RE: Nicholas Bush
Hi Laura,
May I just say that you have a great first name! I'm named after my Mom's favorite Auntie, how about yourself?

I'm a Mormon and so my research is conducted on Family Search.org and the Personal Identification information for Nicolas Bush and others that I research come from the Birth, Death, Military, Census, Obituary, and etc. documentation that I link directly to Nicolas Bush's and others on their individual FamilySearch.org pages. As you know, this site is FREE and like WIKI, can be updated by anyone. There is the WATCH star on the top of the page, which will alert by email, if you are interested in who/what/others are making changes to the information.

The Mormon Church leads the world in digitizing information and making it available for public use. Currently the Church is rapidly digitizing the "bajillion" (my number!) of names stored by the Philippine Government and many are looking forward to being able to access those names and records. The Church offers this as a Free service to these countries who would not be able to afford or have the technology to do this on their own, and then makes these records available for public/world use. Great for us Family History nuts. :-)

Thanks for asking.
Warmly,
Laura Carmichael BIas

RE: Otto and Anna Frish
Hi Laura,
Otto (who married Anna Wirth) was the brother of my great-grandfather Frank L. Frish. Anna was still alive and mentioned in Frank's obituary which was dated 7/15/1978 (Chicago Tribune). Also, Otto had a son, Frank L. Frish (#163571122) who wrote to me before he died in 1999 and sent me a hand drawn family tree, where he shows Otto and Anna (Wirth) as his parents. Otto and Anna were also the parents of Georgiana (Pavlus) and Helen (Skaritka). I've done the research on this family back to my great-great-great grandparents Frank L. Frish & Josephine Schwartz and have input all of it into findagrave. Laura :)

RE: Mary H Swidlikiewicz 147067904
I do indexing for Family Search. I am also an Ancestry member. I use several resources while doing my research (including My Heritage, GenealogyBank, Google, Findagrave, FamilySearch, Ancestry, etc.) and I do my best to research as much as possible about families if I am unsure of information I am indexing... especially with difficult cultural names such as these polish ones, as they often have many spelling variants due to pronunciations and such.

The information for Mary was culminated from a few different combined sources. The main one being the U.S., Social Security Death Index, which lists her name as Mary H. Swidlikiewicz and gives her birth date, death date, and lists her death location as Palantine, Cook, Illinois (this is not necessarily the actual death location, but more accurately the location her last benefit check was received).

Her obituary can be found in the Chicago Tribune newspaper, publish date 29 Mar 1992.

However, I must correct the Maiden name that I submitted for her. I had previously given you the surname LISKI as I had found it in a less reliable source. The 1930 U.S. Census shows her living in her parent's home. Her father is listed as CASMIR LISZKA. Her mother is listed as APOLONIA LISZKA. Her siblings: Frank, John, Martin, Joseph, Rose, Cecila, Elenor and Florence are shown as well. Mary is shown with her married surname of SWIDLIKIEWICZ and her son, Theodore is shown with the SWIDLIKIEWICZ as well. -- Therefore, given the Polish spelling patterns, it is most likely that LISZKA would be more correct than LISKI.

RE: Carl and Viola Rodig
Hi Laura - would be glad to!

Carl Otto Paul Rodig was born on 30 Aug 1897 in Chicago to Albert Emil Rodig (1848-1925, memorial #36412688) abd Caroline K. Staiger (1868-1942, memorial #36412725). Albert and Caroline are my great grand uncle and aunt. Both emigrated from Germany. They had at least four children and remained in the Cook Co. Illinois area. Albert served in the Civil War and enlisted 3 different times.

Carl is named after his Great grandfather Carl Christ Gottlieb H. Rodig (1780-1859) who married Eleonor Schneider. They are my third great grandparents. Some of our common family names are Carl (a form of Charles), Herman, Edward, Albert, Paul, Otto and Albert.

Carl Otto Paul Rodig (the Rodig guys all had at least 4 names for their given name) is listed on the social sec death index as Carl Rodig, born 30 Aug 1897 and died July 1980. His draft registration card for 12 Sept 1918 (, 1918 - draft card R, roll 16135668, draftboard 49, serial #936, order #1497) lists his name as Carl Paul Rodig, born 30 Aug 1897 and residence was 1539 Orchard St. Chicago. He was presently a clerk working for the American Eailway Express Co., and his nearest relative was Albert Rodig, of same residence.

Carl married Viola Lillian Ruckdeschel on 08 June 1921 in Chicago. They had three children - Robert, Marjory and LeRoy.

Please feel free to add the above info to his memorial. I will also send in links to link his parents.

Please let me know if you wish further information. I have tons of family notes with documentation on my Rodig family.

Thanks so much!

RE: Carl and Mabel Cross
No need. I probably won't touch it again. I'm trying to connect all my family so have put thru a lot of request like this. i especially like to connect the ones that are buried in different cemeteries and different states as my immediate family are. Being so involved in Ancestry its wonderful when I go to findagrave and see the connections, so I figure other people feel the same.
