Bio Photo Hi,

I am a retired veteran and genealogist. I work on Fort Knox so I have opportunities to visit some cemeteries on post and in Hardin County, KY.

If you would like to have a memorial transferred to you, please let me know by using the Edit tab and sending me a note.

Please feel free to use any of my photographs for your personal use. I take the time to go to the cemeteries, take and post headstone pictures so family researchers can find their ancestors, so if you use my photographs and post them on any for-profit web sites (ex,, etc), please give me credit.

Just wanting to know the source you have showing him buried here. I could not find a Ky. Birth or Death Record for him. Thanks and have a blessed day!

I had her originally in Grahampton but was told by another subscriber that she was beside her husband. This is clearly wrong if you have a headstone photo. If Matilda is your family I'm happy to make a transfer. She is of no relation to me that I'm aware of.

RE: Anna Duvall Stone
Yes all is correct, except for the Nellie. Sometimes handwriting is hard to read. I guess that's why genealogy is so challenging.
By the way, the marriage was short lived.

Thanks for all you do.

RE: Anna Duvall Stone
Rest assured, Katherine (Kittie) Ellen Miller was my grandmother's mother. Nellie and Kittie are NOT same person. And her last name is NOT Duvall as you stated in your email.

Thank you for the photo. You have been busy! I am looking for photos of a few people who are SUPPOSED to be at Fairfield. I realize some of these may be in the category to which you referred as "unmarked" or with "field stones"

RE: Morris Family of Kentucky
Yes you can transfer to me. That would be great. Thanks for adding their memorials. I appreciate it. I live in Alaska so can't easily get around to the cemeteries down there in the lower 48 states. Sharon

Luke Calvin and Susan Samuels
Do you have further info. on the family of Luke and Susan (Samuels) Calvin? My 4th Great grandfather was Andrew Harrison Colvin (1813-1884) and I've been wondering if he is their son. He was born in Hardin County, but at 19 moved to Harrison County, Indiana. I see that you have a grandson of Luke, Andrew Harrison Miller, linked up. I wonder if this is a namesake of my grandfather? Seems like there was a family dispute (slavery?), so they split and I don't have much to go on. It was another two generations before my Colvins returned to Hardin County (Stanley John Colvin). Thanks for any help!

RE: Luke Calvin
Must be a misprint--the section I copied for you just says "(2) Rachel" after the first husband, so not sure on the name there, but farther down (pg 103) it lists family in the cemetery, including Rachel Hays, and possible husband, Lycurus Hays:

Both Luke D. and Sarah Calvin are buried in the family graveyard on Fort Knox. There are several other graves there of interest.
Lycurus Hays, son of John P. Hays, 1844-1894
Rachel Calvin Hays, daughter of Luke D. Hays, (1842-1906)
Hattie Laswell, wife of E.V. Caswell, 1872-1903
Also a daughter of Lycurgus and Rachel Hays and a son of Clarence Hays
Another simple son reads, "Issac-a colored man",
1 1822-1868)
Three other daughters of Luke and Sarah Calvin are buried here:
Susan Langley, wife of R.H. Langley (1829-1870)
Columbia Clay Branch, wife of D.W. Branch, 1847-1873 and her husband,
David Branch(1843-1879)
Mary Preston, wife of Augustus Preston, 1826-1866.

Here's a link to an online copy of the book you can look at:
