I am a retired veteran and genealogist. I work on Fort Knox so I have opportunities to visit some cemeteries on post and in Hardin County, KY.

|Margaret Sopp||Mallie Jane Elliott Sprinkle|
I received your message. It appears as if Mallie was an unmarried woman when she and James Sprinkle married. The license/certificate shows her as Miss Mallie Elliott in more than once place. Also, the martial status of the bride and groom is reflected in the register entry. James is shown as a widower, as are other brides/grooms on the page who were widowed. And in those cases the woman is shown as Mrs., not Miss. Mallie is shown simply as "of age."
Interestingly, on daughter Bertha's marriage record for the father's name, it shows Ben Williams, guardian. Mallie, of course, is named as her mother.
There is a marriage record for a Virgil Elliott of about the right age. Father's name is blank. Mother's is Ellen Elliott. I don't see that Mallie had a sister named Ellen (although she could have been born after 1880 and out of the household before 1900).
Who could say that genealogy isn't interesting :-)

James, Thank you for all the nice photos from Howevalley Cemetery. I do hope you can take photos of all those interred at Stiles/Shipley when you are able to go there. It does not appear that anyone has taken any photos there. It looks like 1915 was the last time anyone was interred there and some of the stones date back to the early 1800's! Thanks again James!

James, thank you for the Ellen Stiles grave stone picture. We appreciate you and your work.
|Carol Frey||RE: Emil Seiffert|
I honestly can't tell you where the Seiffert's married in. I am doing the Argersingers' 12 children & all their children to the present generation to the best of my ability. Sometimes families just "come out of the woodwork" for generations due to what I find on Findagrave, etc. The reason I don't remember exactly nwhere they "fit" in is that my husband has had a series of heart attacks since3 last Oct. & I have been VERY busy with that. My own health has not been all that great either. Just to give you an example of why I don't remember exactly where people fit is that my last book was 1900 pages of info with an average of 20 people per page! And, that family was only from 1831!!!! I had a side ways tree instead of the usual perpendicular tree. If I happen to run into any more info on that family, I will send it to you. Since you have so many pictures, may I suggest that you contact Findagrave.com & submit them there so everyone can see their folks. Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck, Carol Frey

From Carol Frey. I am only a "shirt tail" relative. The Seifferts married into my Argersinger family.
|Diane Addington||Stiles-Shipley Cemetery|
Hello James, The cemetery is supposed to be across from the school. I understand it is quite overgrown. I think David Goodman owns the property and I have been told you might want to wait till after the first frost kills back some of the vegetation because there might be snakes! BTW, Thanks for the photo of the stones for James William and Ellen Harned Stiles. I will try to get hold of Carolyn Wimp. I think she may have more info.
|Emily Dudenski||RE: Ann Nevitt|
Well, your correct. I did some research on her and thats the same person. Guess they just miss spelled her name in census records. There are only a few nevitt buried at that cemetery and shes one of them. & Thank you for Everything!!
The information i have for Anna Mae Nevitt .. Well i thought her name was annie nevitt born jan. 22, 1890 died march 14, 1975 and she married edward w. Flowers who was born 1877-1950..?? Is this the same person? She aslo had a sister Alice Nevitt and Margaret "maggie" nevitt...

Thank you for taking the time to photograph this grave!
|Margaret Sopp||RE: Shellie Goodman Sprinkle|
I gathered my information on Shellie many years ago. Re-reading my notes, I see that James William Sprinkle & Shellie Goodman's marriage record doesn't include parents' names but it states they were married at Wid Goodman's. My notes show that my first thought was that Wid was an abbreviation for Widow but that then I looked at the 1900 census, and it shows Shellie's father was Wid H Goodman I noted that in other census years, he was William H. Goodman. Shellie was divorced when she married James Sprinkle. She was previously married to Young Hicks. Her Hicks children stayed with her parents after she remarried.
