|To all of you that add burial unknown and plop in wrong cemetery. If you read the FAQ"s the one added to the right cemetery first stays. Your burial unknown WILL BE REMOVED.|
You are not required to search for burial unknown if you walk a cemetery. All you have to do is search the cemetery.
Just because someone was cremated does not mean they are not buried in a cemetery. I have found so many double were others do not look or know and leave them as cremated (Burial unknown). Then someone fines the cemetery were the ashes are buried.
When I started walking cemeteries 6 years ago, it was to help others find the BURIAL LOCATION of family. Now I feel Find a grave has turned into one more family tree site.
Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request.
Transfers will be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Find a Grave's mission is to find, record and present final disposition information from around the world as a virtual cemetery experience.
Memorial contributions to Find A Grave must fulfill that mission - registration of the final disposition.
IF you do not know where they are buried you should NOT add them. Or PLOP them in the WRONG cemetery just so you can make a family tree.
To many feel it is ok to add hundreds and thousands of burial unknown. When someone finds the true burial location they feel they can move theirs and the person that did the work should delete the one in the cemetery first.
I will not link to burial unknown.
I do not add cut & paste census. I will add a bio.
People rush to be the first to add names from obituary's and funeral homes. They do not try to find the burial location. Then someone puts the time in to walking cemeteries and adding names. If the burial unknown and the one in the cemetery is sent to find a grave your burial unknown is removed. As it should be.
If you add them to the wrong cemetery it will be removed if someone has them in the right cemetery. Find a grave can tell if they have been moved.
My message option is off.
