I love genealogy. My husband and I traveled to find the gravesites of our relatives and were so thrilled when we found them. We took pictures and made memorial pages for our family albums so when I found Find A Grave I was happy to be able to add them for future family researchers. What a great idea! I hope I can help someone else find who they are looking for. Credit FAG, it is a wonderful site.

I sent an earlier edit on this person #139107247. She was the daughter of Murdock M. McLeod and Eliza Wilson McLeod and the wife of Alva George Steele #139107220.

RE: Christmas Lady
Hey, Cat! Thanks. I know we all try to prevent the duplicates, but they slip by :-) Too bad the program doesn't have a feature to prevent them. I know that when I was entering graves for this cemetery, another person saw some of my entries and started also entering information from the same survey list I was using. I realized that later, and it was very frustrating to say the least. Anyway, thanks for all you do. Hopefully all the work of all these volunteers will be helpful to those who come after us.

RE: Estelle
Hey... can I ask how you were able to get the Obit for Alice? If possible, I'd like to try to get the obit for this Estelle. # 126208275 It would save a lot of time because these sisters have all been a bit hard to trace. (The marriage to Homer Pruett came from another researcher who I know think may be incorrect if there is an obit for this Estelle that can confirm.) Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

RE: Alice
Okay - for now keep Estelle on there but I just found a marker for an Estelle Betty Shurley in a different cemetery.I need to do some more research on it. It will take me a few days. A lot of people on Ancestry had Alice married to Homer but then with the finding of Mattie's obit I saw the Shurley name. I hadn't found anything when I sent out the info to you with the sisters but I just found this marker. I'll send corrections if I make a solid connection.

RE: Alice
I don't believe I have maintenance of Alice. I shouldn't because I am actually not related. I am helping another adoptee search for her birth family. She has mitochondrial DNA that connects her to these Mullis sisters (meaning one of them is a great or great-great grandmother on her maternal side) but so far I'm not finding any info that hints at matching what Soc Svcs told the adoptee about her birth mother. They don't give names but they do give non-identifying info which is what I'm trying to work off of. However, being an adoptee myself who successfully found my birth father using DNA, I have a little more experience with this which is why I'm helping. I think I may have to tell her that the info she was given was likely made up. The DNA doesn't lie but the agencies usually do so now it's a matter of just trying to ignore what social services told her and try to figure out the possibles.
