Primarly from the Grant County, WI. area, but many branched out to other areas. We travel in our motorhome on occasion and when near a cemetery I take pictures of the tombstones. I try to get pictures of the older tombstones that can be read and from the smaller cemeteries. | |

Thank you for your quick reply.
I'm actually the one doing the tree for his family. I will contact him tonight. It was a lot of work. 7 binders (his, his wife's and the 5 children.
I hope he receives it in time for Christmas. He wants to surprise the family.
He did say Leora has a marker. She was a member of an organization that provided the marker.
I have extended the Groff family to Wilson Groff, and his father, Jacob Groff. I wish I could obtain vital records to make a correct connection.
I downloaded the Find A Grave info on Henry and Polly Winter/s. A few years ago, I obtained his service record, which is actually a pay record.
To survive Andersonville, Libby, AND being nicked by Cole Younger is quite interesting.
Oh, his Civil War record, shows him at 21 in 1863. That would put his year of birth at 1840, but the marker reads 1820. I think the copyist might have wrote the info wrong.

I believe I have answered this once already, no I do not have any additional information. But I am curious why all the correction that I have sent to you are not done....Do you have a reason why? Curious.

I have uploaded pictures of William and Lewis's headstones. They provide further dates than what you have and a 'correction' to Lewis's middle initial.
