Hello John,

When you get a chance, could you help me with a question on this listing you created please?

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Gautier&GSmid=47092867&GRid=42883699&

Do you remember if you transcribed from the stone, or a book of transcriptions?

Thanks!
Tony

Thank you for transferring my grandparents to me! I was wondering if you could transfer my Uncle Jerry and Uncle James to me as well. They are both buried along side of my grandparents.

Savage Graveyard, Teachey, NC
Mr. Evans,

Not knowing any other contact, I thought I'd contact you. I am unable to find information, online, for a Savage graveyard that used to be located west of Teachey, NC.

In 1983, my wife and I did some cemetery searching in Duplin and Pender Counties. One of the cemeteries we sought out was listed in a book, of Duplin County cemeteries, that I had copied data from in 1982. According to that book, the Savage Graveyard was located southeast of the intersection of County Road (CR) 1135 and CR 1136 with a note to enter off CR 1136.

After driving back and forth on both roads for nearly an hour, we finally stopped at a small country store, near CR 1101, to inquire as to the location of the graveyard. The elderly proprietors informed us that they had
no idea where it was located (they were "newcomers" having only been there since 1953); however, we could check with Mr. Evander Savage. After finding out where Mr. Evander lived, we headed back out CR1135.

Mr. Evander told me that wasn't sure, but the only cemetery he knew of was "over there" as he pointed to a field across the road. He told us to turn onto CR 1136, "turn in on the dirt road that goes between barns and hog pens, but be careful". Traveling as far as we could in the car, we got out and headed toward the area Mr. Evander had indicated. There was a ditch, between us and the other two fields, which we had to cross. At first, after seeing how overgrown it was, I was quite skeptical. After getting down on my hands and knees, to peer into the thick growth of briars and weeds, I noticed something white. Crawling into the overgrowth I found four
headstones:

Jacob Davis Matthews 1848 - 1926
Susan E Savage Matthews 1848 - 1929
Mitchel Savage 1806 - 1888
Ruthy Noles Savage 1806 - 1882

My questions:

1) Are my recollections correct, as to the location of the cemetery?

2) What is the status of the cemetery? [Viewing the area on Google Maps, it seems that the fields have been developed, and I see no indication that the cemetery is still there]

Byron, GA 31008

P.S. Jacob and Susan were my great-great-grandparents, on my maternal
grandmother's side.

James Fonvielle daughter?
Hi John,

I'm doing some family research, and my great-grandmother's name was Narcissa Fonvielle (Fonville). Through my research, I've come across her father as James Hurst Fonvielle & mother Elizabeth Byrd, but I noticed she wasn't listed as one of their children from your information on here. Would you happen to have any information on her?

Thanks,
Olivia

Thank you for any help given.

Hi John-- I have just become interested in my genealogy and lots of relatives have done much research. Many thanks to them and folks like you!! My Great Great Grandmother is Annie Eliza Frink Hughes #56883292 (1836-1883). I am looking for her parents' graves: William T. Frink b.1813,1818 & Mary Sommerset Frink. William T. is a child of William Frink Sr. (1793-1859) #37516257 and Anna Reaves (1793-1859) #37516228 and brother to Jabesh Frink (1834-1896) #51853656. Do you have any ideas? Many thanks!
