Louise was my Aunt, my mother's sister. I would like to ask if you would transfer her memorial to me. I am trying to link the family. I just was transferred her husband John. Thank you for your time and maintaining her memorial. Happy Holidays!

Gosport IN cemetery
I see four requests for photos in Gosport Cemetery, I have another in my file. Our snow is gone but now we're flooded and my husband just had a hip replacement last Monday. I will add your requests to my file and hopefully trek over there within the next month. Hope that will work for you. Meanwhile if you have any others for there, keep sending the requests and I'll get them all.

I'm itching for some good cemetery treks! Can't wait to get out there!

Merry Christmas!

Ann Viers
A Mr. Glenn Wallace has spent 8 years doing a research project of the Monocacy Cemetery. According to Mr. Wallace, Ann Viers is not buried there but rather at a small site on private property on White's Ferry Rd. outside of Poolesville called the Cissell-Trundle family cemetery. I've included a link here to the Park & Planning Commission listing of the cemetery. It's ID207.

Trundle Rd. intersects White's Ferry Rd. about 3 miles west of Poolesville toward White's Ferry. I can ask around for clues as to it's exact location and how to obtain access to the site, if you would like.

Phebe Frazee

I was given your photo request from Find-A-Grave.

This site has pictures of many of the graves at the Westfield cemetery where Phebe Frazee is buried. This is the link to her stone.

Photo Request
Since no email address is available for you, am posting this as a public message.

You are on record as having submitted one of 23 Find A Grave photo requests for gravestones located in the Winterset City Cemetery, Winterset, Madison, Iowa.

While investigating a single request I received, then finding multiple requests for that cemetery, and considering claiming them all, I learned about the complexity of that cemetery (there are over 11,000 graves), and the apparent difficulty in locating those grave sites due to poor documentation. I further learned that all of the gravestones in that cemetery have been photographed and documented by the Iowa Gravestone Photo Project ( The project clearly states their explicit copyright to the photos present. I did however contact them on behalf of each of you, regrading obtaining the rights to use the photos on your respective Find A Grave memorials. My request was declined, with a statement indicating rights were only granted to family members (see their statement below).

So, I would highly recommend (I am assuming each of your are family members) contacting the Iowa Gravestone Project and request the use of your specific gravestone photo or photos. I believe such a request will be granted. The Madison County project coordinator is:

JL (Judy) Wight

Good luck to each of you with your request.
And if granted, I assume you would then remove your photo request from the Find A Grave site.

Jeff A

PS. I did receive a comment from the cemetery groundskeeper, that one of the individuals (quiet recent death) for which a photo was requested was in fact buried in a different location (a last minute change, requested by the family). I regret I do not recall the name,
but if a recent burial is not present in the Iowa Gravestone Photo Project, additional research may be required.

Good Morning Jeff,

Yes, all of the headstones are already on the Iowa Gravestone Photo Project

Thank you for asking, but we only give permission to use the photos to
family members. So your request to use 23 photos is not acceptable.

Our volunteers in Madison County have gone to a lot of trouble, not to
mention their time to make sure that every known headstone is photographed
and online and we also have volunteers that watch the cemeteries for
recently placed and / or headstone that have dates inscribed in order to
take new pictures with the full and complete information on them.

The only thing I can suggest is to refer the people to the Iowa Project
Website to view headstone photos of those they are requesting headstone
photos for. Keeping in mind that at every cemetery there are a certain
amount of burials that do not have a headstone to represent the person
buried there.

I am sorry to have to deny your request, but we take great pride in the
Madison County Gravestone Project and have spent innumerable hours and
energy to bring these images to our researchers.

Also, please note that I have printed out a copy of the current requests and
will keep it on file for future reviewing.

I am open for any further questions or issues concerning this request.
