Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired Tech Lab teacher in middle school.
I enjoy genealogy and creating photo album pages of grandkids. I especially enjoy taking pictures of headstones. Cemeteries are lovely, peaceful and quiet.

PLEASE use the edit button to request transfers and make changes/additions to memorials.
Thank you.

Also, since I take a large number of cemstone photos, it is time prohibitive to clean them, especially the older ones, before taking a pic. I will be glad to retake any photos upon request.

AND, I would really appreciate any email communication to include the memorial numbers of the person(s) to whom you are referring. It is so time consuming (and open to error) to find names using the search tool.

John Hatke-Find A Grave Memorial # 60276705
Thank you for fulfilling my photo request for John Hatke. I appreciate it greatly. I was just wondering if there was anything on the back of his headstone. His wife, Emma Julia Staub Hatke, is also buried in this plot. I don't think her name and information was ever inscribed on the marker, unless it's on the back. At one time there was an inscription of some kind on the back, but I don't know if she was mentioned there. Thanks for your work on Find a Grave.

Irma I. Miller

I was wondering if you knew Irma's maiden name by chance. I have been searching for a grand aunt Erma/or Irma Brubaker is her maiden name. I know she married a Miller but no information on the spouse. I know her siblings are Ivan, Orin, Vesta, and Eula Brubaker.

Thanks so much,

Julianna Close Gruhnowski Staub
Hello, Julianna was my Great Great Grandmother. My Great Grandfather Gustave Fredrick Gruhn was her son.I have visited her grave a few times, but I have not seen the gold marker that is placed on the stone in the picture that you posted. Does it have any writing on it? The stone was once much larger, and there was a lengthy inscription on the botton of the stone in 1978. The next time I came back to visit in the late 1980's the bottom of the stone and the entire inscription was gone. Just wondered if someone would know how it read.It was written in German.
Thanks for posting

Myrtle Davis and Son
Thank you for all of the work you have done on these memorials. Thank you very much for the transfer of Myrtle. Charlie and Myrtle had two other children that were older than the son that is on the stone with Myrtle. They were named Arthur H who was born in about 1927 and Arlene E. who was born in 1929 or 1930.

Mary L. Patterson Greene
wife of James W. Greene.
Mae: Mary Louise is a daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Patterson. One of her youngest siblings, Isaac Patterson is my gr-grandfather. In research, it is apparent that Mary Louise had a child, Minnie, who was 3 yrs old at the time of Mary L's marriage to James Greene in 1880. Minnie is referred to in census' as Minnie Wilson-Greene. And in some census she is claimed a stepdaughter. I cannot find any info on Minnie other than what are in census records. Is there by chance a Minnie Wilson Greene buried near Mary L. Patterson Greene?

I am working on this one. I'm not sure, but think
that the "original" may have been an Unknown Burial. The admin. is looking into it.
I also sent for correction on the last names for
Michael Shepard and Lars Norloff memorials.
Thanks, Marlene

Carolina Bartels
According to my family tree information, Carolina Bartels Bartels father was Christopher Bartels (1868 - 1948). Christopher's father was a John Bartels, who probably died in Germany.

Carolina's husband was John Bartels (1902 - 1951). His father was Heinrich Bartels (1873 - 1945). I don't have any information beyond that.

Were Carolina and John cousins? Probably not first cousins, but I would not be surprised if they were as close as second cousins. As you know, these first generation German-Americans did not look far beyond their local churches to find their spouses.

Selma H Hobbs
Dear Mae,

I can't tell you how priceless your photo is of the tombstone of "Selma H Hobbs" in Kansas.

I have been researching our family tree for a few years mostly via Sometimes, there is this mysterious "hole." And tonight, upon discovering your photo, I have been able to fill this surprising hole. Words cannot express my gratitude for your selfless endeavor!

My son's great-grandmother is Leona Ruth (nee Hobbs) Wattson, the youngest of 9. Her sibling, Selma H Hobbs, is one of three siblings who died very very young per your photo of the tombstone.

Leona's first son is Allan Seright Wattson. His first born is Kristoph Seright Wattson. And our son is Aidan Seright Wattson.

Kristoph, my husband, and I were fortunate to visit Leona in her golden years. She told us fantastic stories about her youth in Kansas and Oklahoma, but she never mentioned facts about our family lineage. We never knew her father was named Charles Seright. In turn, she would never know that her great-grandson would be named Aidan Seright.

Again, thank you immensely Mae, for helping me with this part of our family's lineage puzzle.
