I can't seem to find the ladys name. It was his great great granddaughter that gave me the information. She said he was so depressed with his health that he shot himself.

I'll keep looking as soon as I catch up with my life.

You're so welcomed...I knew Dennis throughout elementary school, but lost track when we passed to junior high.

Well I am not sure which memorial you are talking about but you must mean the Brainerd/ Brainard books by Lucy Brainerd. I have been working from them. I bought them a long time ago on the net, they are family genealogy books. They were published back around 1908. Here is a link to these books they now have on the net.

Please let me know which memorial this was for. I have been trying to update all I can. This is my mother's line in the family. And thank you!

I agree. I really believe it is in the encroaching growth at the top of the cemetery. That would be near the other Armstrong graves. I went with a rake and snippers to find it but it's too much. I did uncover a couple of other graves and perhaps someone will notice and entice those in charge to clear more. And also some may fall back as we move to winter. I'll keep my eye on it.

I am not related. I have been asked to transcribe Oak Wood Cemetery in Ackley, Franklin Co., Iowa onto Find a Grave and this family showed up. I have trouble just entering one person and usually end up referring to census reports as I try to link family members together - this is the case with your family member.

You're very welcome! I had no idea that it would be such a huge family lot - I think I got most of the headstones recorded...I had to take pics through and over the cast-iron locked fence lol
