Grave photos I have taken & any family photos I have shared you have my permission to copy.

I have been burnt many times by a person here & there requesting 100's of memorials because they are remotely related & they are not directly related. This is why I changed & started following the guidelines for direct descendancy. Do you believe that these people will transfer them to their direct descendants? I don't think so, a direct descendant comes along & sees the memorial transferred to another, they won't even bother to request a transfer for they would think that the person who maintains the memorial is a direct descendant. I had one person tell me a horror story of his request for his father's memorial & was denied by a person who was related but remotely because they shared the same surname & this person was doing a one surname genealogy, this is what I would call hoarding & the same goes for relatives requesting a transfer for distant relatives. By only transferring to their direct descendants what better way can you connect to relatives you didn't know you had. A quote from findagrave guidelines "The goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I do bend the rules in special circumstances such as infants, relatives that did not marry or had no children or if someone is doing genealogy for a person who is a direct descendant, I also go beyond the 4 generation rule for direct descendancy. I am keeping my memorials in safe keeping until a direct descendant comes along to claim them. I am honoring them by keeping them safe for people who really care about them because they are their ancestor & not just a distant relative. I go way beyond just putting names & dates when creating memorials, I research & give more details then the simple gravestone has by adding maiden names, full birth & death dates, linking family, obituaries, biographies, etc. I too have relatives that I am not a direct descendant of but will gladly transfer them to their descendants when they come along. Please consider my point of view, there is a very good reason why I follow the guidelines. When I have had to decline a transfer I always have responded respectfully to the requester why I declined & my thinking on direct descendancy, they completely understand & commend me for my stand in this matter, of course their are a few who do not & have bullied me into transferring them by mean cruel ways, which is wrong. I respect the rights of others opinions, but you should also respect others points of views. I just wanted to let everyone know why I follow the guidelines. I do hope this gives others to be just a little bit more understanding of why the guidelines were put in place, after all the site originally was suppose to be virtual cemeteries & a source to find burial places for relatives & loved ones & not for maintaining their own family trees. I am a genealogist but do not use this site for my family tree, I have my own personal tree elsewhere where it belongs. I have shared my relatives on this site but as I said before I will transfer them to their descendants. It isn't about hoarding with me, it is about what is the right thing to do.

NOTE: MILITARY SERVICE if requested by immediate family & direct descendants, I will add rank to their name. Civil War Buffs & any other War Buffs please refrain from requesting the rank be added, you are not family & have no personal knowledge of these soldiers. I do not assume to know the wishes of the soldier to add rank to their names, only family have this authority. As a stranger I will however respectfully add it to their bio to honor their service. The only other exception would be career soldiers of which rank will be added to their name.

Bailey North
A found photo
Hi Cheryl Ayres,
My name is Bailey North #46935537. I collect old photos to use in my artwork(play). I decided to look up one of them here on Find a Grave. Her name (handwritten on the front)is Una Turner # 89046787 and the cabinet photo was taken by Curtiss (Studio, I presume) in Madison Wis. If you perhaps know who might be interested in this photo would you please tell them they can contact me at: or leave a public message on my Find a Grave page? I didn't think it would be right to just post it without making sure it was the right person first.
A friend of mine found a photo of my great great grandmother in an antique store a few years back and I was flabbergasted. It was a younger picture of her that I had never seen but was very recognizable. It was amazing.
Thank you.

Find A Grave Memorial# 103053842

I am assuming since there is not a picture of a grave for Clarence, there is no grave stone? I will be making a trip to Kelso, this weekend, May 22- 23 I would like to take a picture of his grave but if there is not a stone I do no want to waste my time. Can you tell me there is a stone? or where the record of is burial is?

Clarence is my Great Grand Uncle

Wow! That is an eleventh child for Alfred James Eblin and Elizabeth Jane Davis. That is terrific!

You have here listed in Fairfiew Cemetery as the daughter of Alfred James Eblin and Elizabeth Jane Davis. What is your source for her being their daughter. I can find no such daughter in any of the census of their families or in the obituaries of either parent. Their daughter is Alice Eblin Smith who is buried in Fairview Cemetery where they are buried. Unless you have a source, please correct this mistake.

Re: Memorial # 118298205
Hi Cheryl: Please view the above Memorial for Zula Meier. Just wondering if there is an unknown to me reason why this tombstone photo is on this Memorial. Just checking in case it's an error.

Charles Brant Transfer
Hi Cheryl:
Thank you for your quick response. I totally agree with your thinking on the direct relationship issues. I am continuing to work on adding obits and pictures and links to siblings and children. This is my legacy to my nephews and cousins of the past and the future.
Thanks again!
